Adult Scholarship Guidelines
The
scholarship is for undergraduate or graduate study for students 21 years of age
or older. A student may not receive
more than one scholarship/award in any one academic year.
The scholarship/grant is evidenced by a Certificate of
Award. All checks are paid directly to
the school.
The scholarship/grant may be used for tuition and fees,
books and supplies, room and board if living on campus only.
To receive payment, the student must have the school send
the completed Verification of Enrollment form, whereupon, we will issue our
check, payable to the school, and mail it directly to the school to establish a
credit in the name of the student.
If a student terminates a course or courses for any reason,
the un-disbursed balance MUST be returned to us. It may NOT be transferred to another school, and it may NOT be
paid to the student personally.
Applicants will be judged on financial need, leadership and
biography. Heavy weight is put on the
biography including future plans and goals.
Please specify your community involvement in the past, currently, and
intentions for the future. Also include
a plan on how you intend on paying for your college and your anticipated time frame
for completing your degree
Applicants will be judged by a committee of Yantis-Lake
Fork Lions Club Board of Directors which will recommend to the club for a final
vote.
All applications are due by August 6th and
January 3rd. The scholarship
will be in no event will be more than $500 and may be split to award two $250
scholarships/grants or based upon applications the club has the option of not
awarding a scholarship.
The scholarship/grant is to be used in the semester
awarded; example the August scholarship is to be used for the current year’s
fall term and the January scholarship is to be used for the current year’s
spring term. There will not be any
scholarships awarded for summer.

than 6 hours for undergraduate and 3 hours for graduate; if awarded, the
