So you want to be a Ghost Hunter! You watch it all on TV, you read newspaper article that you could find, you see, hear and feel them all around you, so you must be psychic or something so they will talk to you and you can get all the answers. You know you can be the best around and you are going to get that perfect piece of evidence the first time you are out and you will become famous. OK then you don't need us, just call CNN and they can go with you and get it all on film!
If you are still reading this then you must know that you do not know every thing there is to know about Ghost Hunting, that's a good start. Now don't run out and buy everything you see on TV and web sites start small and work your way up. This can be a very expensive hobby, your husband or wife may not like the idea of not paying a bill right now because you think you need an EMF detector, so use what you have. If you really like it and continue then start small and buy one piece of equipment at a time. Most people have cameras or a video camera at home right there is your number one piece of equipment. Next try to borrow a tape or digital recorder of any type. Now find a friend that is also interested in ghost and ask them to join you. DON'T GO ALONE
For those of you that want to learn, the right way and the safe way, then we will try to help you out. First we would like to tell you that NYPAPS, by no means, thinks that we are the best, the only or the smartest paranormal investigators out there. We are still learning with each new step we take, we consider every investigation a learning experience. We do in fact call on other societies for help, if we stumble upon a haunting that we have never dealt with before. Why you ask, we feel that we are here to help people, not pretend we have all the answers and then just leave you with a problem.
So here goes your first lesson: Never take on something you know nothing about, it could be dangerous. A good investigator will be honest to themselves and the people that contacted them. If an investigative team does an investigation and then tells you they have to call in another group or someone else for help, then they are a good team. NYPAPS has contacted others for help and others have contacted us for help, which is what this should be all about.
Say some sort of protection prayer before you go on any investigation. You can pick whatever one you and your religion believes in. This is a key factor for your protection; you need to believe in the one you have chosen. Most investigators do not run into evil, it is a very rare occurrence but it is out there and you need to be protected. This is also when you call in another team with experience; don't even try unless you know what you are doing. Here are some good prayers to use:
The Lords Prayer; Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
Hail Mary; Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary , Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death. Amen
Prayer to Saint Michael; Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Power of God, thrust into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits, who wander the world for the ruin of souls. Amen
Here is a closing prayer you can say so the spirits do not follow you home. Say this prayer right before you leave the location.
Closing prayer; In the name of Jesus Christ I command all human spirits to be bound to the confines of this cemetery( or where ever you are) I command all inhuman spirits to go where Jesus Christ tells you to go, for it is he who commands you. Amen
