CANCELLATION OF JUNE 28 XTREME LIMIT WRESTLING SHOW

For our fans, I feel that I owe you an apology and explanation and here it is.

When I first decided to run a show the idea was just that to run ONE show. As I started making contacts in addition to the ones that I already had and sat down and took a look at my finances I realized that I could run a wrestling promotion and I began to make plans to do so.

The first show was a lot of fun. I booked Jamie Dundee, Cody Hawk & Flash Flanagan, all of whom I'd been a fan of for years. I booked The Naptown Dragons, The Soul Shooters, Shawn Cook, & CJ Otis all of whom I have a great amount of respect for. I booked Nick Cutler, Sami Callihan, Jake Omen & Marc Houston who, in my opinion are the FUTURE of the business. The 3 best matches that I've ever seen on an indy show were on my show. The show drew a respectable 117 people, which for a debut outing is great, and I paid everyone VERY well.

Now the downside... I had a hell of a time finding a building and when I finally did they charged me $500 rent, $300 damage deposit and they required insurance which I purchased for $350. They told me they had 150 chairs for me and when I got to the building there was MAYBE 70 chairs, almost half of my fans had to stand! Then the show gets going and the building manager tells me that the insurance never arrived in the mail and he was shutting the show down. I had been at the building for three and a half hours and he waits until Sudden Impact hits the ring to tell me that he doesn't have my insurance. I convinced him to give me 10 minutes and I went to Rodney Rush's house and printed out the insurance. In hindsight I should have let the building keep my deposit and reserved it for the next show, but in my mind I was done with the building. I cleaned up, packed up and went home. I spent the next month chasing leads on a building. It was getting close and I had nothing. I went back to the original building and asked them if my planned date was available... it wasn't. I moved the show to June 28th and confirmed with most of my guys, booked new guys to fill in the spots that were left and started promoting the show.

On Friday May 23, I talked to the building guy and was told that he didn't understand why I could never FUCKING answer my phone. I glossed over it and went to talking business. He said that he'd call me on Saturday at around 5:30 so I could drop off the deposit. Saturday comes and goes with no call. I figure it's a holiday weekend maybe something came up... I'll just give him a call on Tuesday.

I make the call on Tuesday morning and he tells me that I hadn't given him a deposit and we didn't have a contract so he rented the building to someone else. He then lectures me on how he's not going to chase me on the phone and that he understands what I'm trying to do, but that I need him... he doesn't need me.

I called 12 buildings Wednesday afternoon. Of the twelve, five expressed interest in holding the show there. Since Thursday morning, two said that they were no longer interested, one YMCA even said that running a wrestling show goes against their morals and mission. One is booked until September and the other two haven't returned my three phone calls.

So it's over. I don't have the time to wait for a building and I can't just expect people to come with little to no promotion.

I am putting Xtreme Limit Wrestling on hiatus for now, because I don't want to have an active promotion and our fans clamoring for dates while venues continue to associate my product with what they see on TV due to ignorance and the inability to ask questions. It's not fair to my wrestlers; it's not fair to my fans. I've also recently been the victim of a tornado in Indiana that totally demolished my home, and I lost everything, so I'm also taking this as a sign that I need some time to regroup XLW.

I'd like to close this thing out by thanking the people who helped make the show such a great success and also say that I'll never doubt another promoter with building issues. I envy promoters who have long-term contracts and great relationships with their buildings.

PROMOTERS BOOK JILL FIELDS... SHE IS AWESOME. She's improving rapidly as a ring announcer and she is willing to do whatever it takes to help your show succeed. I know that she personally brought 15 people to our debut show and who knows how many more her PERSONALLY assembled street team brought.

Xtreme Limit Wrestling WILL live again, I am not going to let buildings go and stop me from my dream of running a successful wrestling promotion.

Keep watching the XLW website right here for updates!
