- Recommended (Japanese) Songs for...
12012
- Shin Shoku (Shinsyoku)
Genre: Heavy Metal/Rock
Comments: My absolute favorite song by them. Music and vocals=perfect. Not too much screaming or anything like that. (Since I was too lazy to rip it off of the CD myself, I just ripped it off of the Official site)
- Newspaper
Genre: Rock
Comments: If you like rock music, then you'll like this. Maybe the introduction and the constant screams of "suicide" get a little annoying, but it is a very good song (it's actually the song that got me into 12012 in the first place). If you like bands like "Dir en Grey" and maybe "DéspairsRay" you'll like "12012." If you haven't heard of any of those bands, err...well... if you like the American band "Linkin Park," you might like "12012." (And no, I wasn't trying to imply that they're a Linkin Park ripoff.)
An Cafe'
- Candy Holic (This one was hard to pick because I love a lot of An Cafe' songs... I was gonna' pick "Wagamama Koushinkyoku" but I didn't think you guys would like it because Miku makes funny noises. @_@* The song which made me fall in love with An Cafe' was actually "Ese Urnai," but I didn't think you guys would like that either so erm, yea...)
Genre: Pop/Rock (?)
Art Marju Duchain
- ANAPHAXETON
Genre: Gothic (?)
AUSHVITZ
- Doukoku
Genre: Heavy Metal/Rock
Comments: My absolute favorite band & one of my favorite songs of all time. C'mon now, that says it all.
Blood Stain Child
Genre: Heavy Metal
If you would like to hear Blood Stain Child's music, just check out
Calmando Qual
- March of the Apes
Genre: Rock
Cross Cradle
Genre: ?
If you would like to hear Cross Cradle's music, just check out their Myspace:
DAISHI
- Jitsuroku Shonen Hanzai Kikagu
Genre: Rock
Danger*Gang
- Samurai
Genre: Rock
deadman
- Monster Tree
Genre: Rock
Comments: Quite unfortunately, deadman has recently announced that they are disbanding. They were truly an excellent band and shall be missed dearly. Well, if you haven't heard any songs by deadman, you should try "Monster Tree" quite simply because it displays their various styles and such.
Deathgaze
- Rihitozoire
Genre: Rock
Comments: My favorite song by "Deathgaze," and perhaps one of my absolute favorite rock songs.
DéspairsRay
- Marry of the Blood
Genre: Rock
Comments: Since I don't know of any DéspairsRay songs that display all of their styles, I had to choose 2 songs, and believe me when I say this: It was hell. Although my favorite song is "Oboro no Tsuki," I had to narrow it down without biase. Well anyway, the tone of Hizumi's voice in "Marry of the blood" is rather low (and I believe that suits him best), however the song itself is rockish. If you're into rock music, this is perfect for you.
Infection
Genre: Rock
Comments: Unlike "Marry of the Blood," Infection is quiet and then gets loud sometimes. I was actually going to choose "Yami ni furu Kiseki," which is a very calm DéspairsRay song, but it's actually one of my least favorites due to the fact that it's kinda...boring? (Actually the real reason is that it was the first song I heard by them and I absolutely HATED it. It was the reason I hated DéspairsRay for a LONG time. It wasn't unil I heard "Oboro no Tsuki" that my opinion changed). Okay, so maybe I was kinda' biased in choosing songs for DéspairsRay, but I really had no choice.
Dir en Grey
- Hades
Genre: Rock
Comments: Some like the old, slow-paced music of early Dir en Grey. Others (like me) would rather the loud screamy songs that DEG's been releasing lately (such as "Saku"). Eh...I think "Hades" is in between...and even if it isn't, it displays Dir en Grey's typical style. (Maybe I should've put up "Cage" and "Saku" instead...ah whatever).
ELLEGARDEN
- Snake Fighting (but it's in English)
Genre: Rock (in English)
Comments: I swear...they remind me of that American band (that I actually can't stand), "Simple Plan." So if you like them, then you'll probably like ELLEGARDEN. If you absolutely HATE Simple Plan (like me), give ELLEGARDEN a try anyway (c'mon I like them~ that's reason enough!).
- Starfish
Genre: Punk/Rock
Comments: I used to hate this song, but now I like it...a lot. This song represents the typical "ELLEGARDEN" style.
Eve of Destiny
- Nervous And Innocence
Genre: Gothic (?)
Gackt
(You guys won't believe how DIFFICULT it was to choose favorite songs by Gackt. Mannnn this guy is the greatest singer I've ever heard in my life. O_O* And another problem I had was choosing a favorite from different categories. Damnnnn he's covered probably every single category in music~~ and he did a better job with each category than most people who specialize in them. Well anyway, check out the song(s) category/categories that suit you the most.)
- Birdcage
Genre: Ballad (?)
- Freesia Opus 2
Genre: Instrumental
- Fragrance
Genre: R&B
- Ash
Genre: Rock Ballad (?)
- Lu:na
Genre: Rock
- Vanilla
Genre: Pop
Galneryus
- Silent Revelation
Genre: Power Metal
Language: English (surprisingly)
Comments: Although it's not exactly my favorite song by Galneryus, it's one of my favorites (my absolute favorite being "Struggle for the Freedom Flag").
Guruguru Eigakan (Pre-2002 members, I think)
- Nonsense Imi wa Nai kedo Igi ga Aru
Genre: Rock
Hamasaki Ayumi
- Will
Genre: Pop (?)
Comments: Although I like a lot of her more rock-ish songs (such as "Because of You"), "Will" is one of the few songs that actually suits her voice and that I can tolerate (to any fans: although I am a Hamasaki Ayumi fan myself, you must admit that her voice can be a little annoying sometimes). Although it's rather quiet, "Will" is actually is pretty nice song, and Ayumi's voice doesn't crack (or at least I didn't notice it cracking).
- Is this LOVE?
Genre: Pop/rock (?)
Comments: An upbeat pop/rock song. This is one of my first & favorites.
Head Phones President (The vocalist is female)
- Crumbled
Genre: Heavy Metal
Language: English (surprisingly)
hide
- Pink Spider (with "Zilch")
Genre: Rock
Comments: Many say that this song was a musical suicide note, and I must agree. It's a rather popular song: after his death in 1998, it won an MTV Japanese International Viewer Choice Music Award. Check out the lyrics for this song and you'll see what I mean. (C'mon, it's pretty obvious that the dudes favorite color was pink~ "Pink Spider" ~ derf!) This was the first song by hide that I ever heard, and up to this day, it is still my absolute favorite. ~Rest in Peace~
Hizaki
- Lunar Eclipse
Genre: Rock
Iceman
- Shining Collection
Genre: Techno/Pop (?)
Intestine Baalism
- Banquet in the Darkness
Genre: Death Metal
Language: English (surprisingly)
Comments: An excellent example of death-metal, but surprisingly, it's in English. Oh man...the vocalist's pronounciation is almost as bad as Kyo's (from "Dir en Grey") was in "CLEAVER SLEAZOID." Now that's bad... Oh well, at least I can actually match up the lyrics for "Banquet in the Darkness" to what the vocalist is actually saying (but I still can't understand him without the lyrics in front of me).
Isabel Varosa
- Ambition
Genre: Rock (?)
Iwao Junko
- Scarlet II
Genre: Ballad (?)
Kagrra,
- Kotodama
Genre: Rock
Comments: If this is too rockish and/or if you want it to have that "traditional" feel, then try the "Ushimitsukoku" version of Kotodama, or you can just try "Satsuki."
- Satsuki
Genre: Traditional (Japanese)
- Murakumo
Genre: ?
Kagerou
- Shuuichi no Ori
Genre: Rock
Klaha (Masaki Haruna)
- Märchen
Genre: Ballad (?)
Comments: The word "Märchen" is German for folk.
Koda Kumi
- Love Across the Ocean
Genre: Pop
Kou Shibasaki
- Sweet Mom
Genre: ?
Közi
- Dans Erebos
Genre: Gothic Techno (?)
Malice Mizer
Tetsu-era
- Baroque
Comments: If you're new to Malice Mizer, I *highly* suggest you avoid this era. Personally, I think the Tetsu-era was the worst, while the Gackt-era was the best (while some other people prefer Klaha-era). All I have to say is try anything other than the Tetsu-era because it might give you a bad impression of Malice Mizer.
Genre: Gothic Rock
Gackt-era
- Syunikiss
Genre: Gothic French Classical (?)
- No Pains No Gains (this is not even one of my favorite MM songs, but it's very different from other Gackt-era songs, so I decided to put it up. I could've put up "Le Ciel," but...)
Genre: Rock
Klaha-era
- Beast of Blood
Genre: Gothic Rock
- Shiroi Hada ni Kuruu Ai to Kanashimi no Rondo
Genre: Gothic French Classical (?)
Instrumental
- Regret
Genre: Instrumental
Merry
- Japanese Modernist
Genre: Rock
Moi dix Mois
Juka-era
- Vizard
Genre: Gothic Heavy Metal/Rock
Comments: Perhaps my favorite Moi dix Mois song, aside from "The Prophet." Ah, "Nocturnal Opera" was such a great album...and Juka was such a great vocalist...why did Mana have to fire him?
- Vestige
Genre: Gothic Classical (?)
Comments: Although my 2 favorite Juka-era songs are probably "Vizard" and "The Prophet," "Vestige" displays that operetic side of Moi dix Mois that isn't really heard too often.
Seth-era
- deus ex machina
Genre: Gothic Rock
Comments: Seth is an "okay" vocalist I guess... I think I'm just being tough on him because I'm still deeply angered that Mana fired Juka... Anyway, "Deus es Machina" is a typical song from the album "Beyond the Gate." Eh...
Namie Amuro
- Queen of Hip-Pop
Genre: Hip-hop/Pop (?)
NEW SODMY
- Phantom -final mix-
Genre: Rock
Pierrot
- Guernica
Genre: Rock
- Paranoia
Genre: Rock
Psycho Le Cému
- Early Autumn
Genre: ?
- [feel on the dark]
Genre: Rock
Comments: Although "[feel on the dark]" is my favorite song by PLC, it does not reflect their usual style.
RENTRER EN SOI
- Fuyuu Tsuisou
Genre: Rock
Rice
- Haruka
Genre: Ballad (?)
Schwarz Stein
- Queen of Decadence
Genre: Gothic Techno (?)
Shadow
- the arrival at the last quarter
Genre: Death Metal
Comments: You'll be surprised to learn that the vocalist is actually female. Yup, Tokiko Shimamoto's death voice is deeper than most male vocalists. (...And to believe I was shocked to learn that Waka from Danger*Gang was actually female... Tokiko Shimamoto beats back all.)
Siva
- Beautiful drug
Genre: Rock
The Yellow Monkey
- Stone Butterfly
Genre: Rock
Ukyou Kamimura
- Bara no Souretsu*
Genre: Gothic Instrumental
Comments: Bara no Souretsu was a hidden track on MALICE MIZER's "Beast of Blood" single, which was released after Kami's death. It was (along with the songs in the "Shinwa Memorial Box"), however, composed by Kami himself.
Utada Hikaru
- Hikari (it's basically the Japanese version of "Simple & Clean.")
Genre: Pop
Velvet Eden
- Igyou Hime
Genre: Gothic Techno (?)
Vidoll
- IIDK
Genre: Rock (?)
Comments: Vidoll may not be one of my favorite bands at the moment, but they're growing on me (in a good way). ^_^* So far, "IIDK" is the only songs I like by them because it's...variegated...? Eh...be glad that I don't dislike them like how I dislike Plastic Tree. +_+*
X-Japan
- Kurenai
Genre: Rock
Yanawaraba
- Aoi Takara
Genre: Traditional (Japanese)
Yoshiki
- Goodbye
Genre: Instrumental
Comments: Yoshiki's tribute to his dear deceased freind, hide.
