Weyrling Information
Weyrling Rules
  • 1. No sexual relationships. Obviously weyrlings can't control if they have a crush, but if they are seen acting on this in any way they will be punished. Emotions of the pair are hard to separate and the dragonets are not ready for that kind of feelings. This rule is nulled when their dragon Flies for the first time.
  • 2. No flying without supervision before they are a turn old.
  • 3. No flying between without supervision for all of weyrling training.
  • 4. Weyrling chores must be done and will be posted as to who has what on the walls of the Heights.
  • 5. Dragonets must be cared for. Any weyrling neglecting their dragonet will face severe punishment and brought before the Weyrleaders.
  • 6. No fighting.

    Weyrling Training
    Throughout Weyrling training weyrlings will be on a roster of rotating chores.
    For those with Weyrlings, if there is no IC Weyrlingmaster, for every season you must make at least one post referring to a weyrling lesson that happened that season - that's it, not much, just a reference. or for those of us who like roleplaying the training, you can do that as well. If there is an IC Weyrlingmaster, then lessons and what you have to do depends on them.

    0-2 Months
    Basic Dragon Care: Washing, Feeding, Oiling, etc.
    Weyr protocols
    Weyrling expectations
    Emotional control

    3-6 months
    Harness fitting.
    Harness care
    Wing strengthening excercise
    Perhaps having older dragons volunteer to take a weyrling up for short solo Flights.
    Harness making (those without skills in this will only have a lesson or two, those with skills may go on to actually make the harnesses for extra marks)
    First Flight
    Elective: Basic Music - mostly just the basic lessons songs and simple instruments.

    7-12 months
    Moving into their own weyr
    Mating Flight behavior
    Between lectures.
    Defense class (elective, includes basics on weaponry and proper ways to use draogn claws and body weight)
    First time between
    Electives:

  • First Aid, Human and Draconic
  • History of Pern
  • Traditional Songs - Useful for those who might want to teach in the future, or just for those who want more music classes.

    1-2 turns
    Duties as a Queen and queenrider (For any queens)
    Wingleader and Wingsecond responsibilities for higher ranked males (possibly non-queen females as well)
    Wing formations
    Controlling proddy Queens (queenriders only, obviously)
    Possible lectures about Egg heavy dragon care, problems with clutch, etc. Usually would be done by a queenrider.
    Electives:

  • Intelligence gathering - like spying on the other Weyr.
  • Using special abilites and talents of your dragons or yourself - new elective, depends on the Weyrlingmaster if it's there. NPC Weyrlingmasters have it.
  • Making medical supplies (fellis juice, numbweed paste, etc.)
  • Advaned Music - Very few are taken into this class, and most likely they will be Weyrsingers, or additional backup Weyrsinger.
