Preserving the Classic

Not running Windows 95/98 anymore? Is your computer faster than 233MHz? Wish you could still play XCom (or other classics) without using an old, obsolete computer? DOSBox solves incompatibility by emulating a DOS machine. This section helps you configure DOSBox to optimum settings for XCom so that you can play it just like on your old 386.

System Requirements

• 600 MHz (1GHz recommended)
• 128MB RAM (256MB recommended)

Instructions

First of all you'll need the program. You can download it free from DOSBox.Sourceforge.net.

Download this file into the DOSBox directory.

Unzip the file into your DOSBox directory (you'll need a program like 7-Zip or WinRAR).

Open the Shortcut file properties. Make sure the directory paths to 'dosbox.exe' and 'go.com' are correct.

If you feel you're computer is able, change the 'XCom_Normal.conf' to 'XCom_Better.conf'.
