Do you have any favorite runs you want to share with others? Email us and we will pass the word on. Here are some of our favorites:
NEW RIVER TRAIL - This trail goes on for miles. You can do as many or as few miles as you want. It never seems crowded. We usually start from Austinville and go towards the Shot Tower toward Foster Falls or go the other way toward Ivanhoe. Any way you go, it is great. It is flat and scenic. You see tunnels and bridges and the New River. This past Sunday we were lucky and saw only a couple other people so we were able to let our dog run without her leash. She had a blast chasing squirrels, a rabbit and an opposum. You never know what you will see!
HUNGRY MOTHER STATE PARK, in Marion, Virginia. There is a six mile loop around the lake. It is a challenging course but beautiful. It is nice for running or walking.
ROUTE 717 - Near Big Walker. There is a .9 mile circle in the campground. We park as you just turn onto the road and then run toward the interstate. It is about a 4 mile run. We ran it there and back a couple weeks ago. It was hilly going but coming back felt all downhill. What a great run! It is a very scenic route. There is traffic but most places have a pretty good shoulder to get over.
