May 16, 2007: Wrote a new article called "Surviving The 4th Dimension," which you will find below. It replaces what was there before, which was an introduction to the book I'm currently writing.

Blessed be, and enjoy.

Surviving The 4th Dimension
A Busy Life Can Be Both "Filled" and "Fulfilling"

By Scott Benson

Here recently in my life, things have gotten what I like to call "crazy." A dramatic change in my band (Priapus) has left me with much work to do on that front, as I am no longer just the rhythm guitar player, but also now the lead singer.

I have begun my first book, entitled The Chrysalis Soul. I continue my research as I write, and I can already tell that this book is only the beginning - there will be more to come! I also remain as a contributor to If Journal. In fact, the article that was in this space for only a day or so has been removed so that I can rework it into an article on spiritual transformation.

I was wondering what to replace it with, and I had a brief notion strike my mind. We are all time travellers! Yes, it's true. Time is ever-flowing, ever moving forward, and forever building upon where it has been. We travel its wild currents, sometimes breathing easy in its still waters, other times grasping our life vests in its turbulent rapids. And . . . gods forbid we should happen upon a waterfall!

My life, indeed, is busier than a one-armed chainsaw juggler. It's easy to lose yourself in a fast-paced world, where "keeping up" is a struggle in itself. We must work. We must earn money. We must pay the bills. And, thanks to some strange evil, we also have to pay taxes. We live in a world of "musts," and it can be so easy to sit back, flabbergasted at it all, and say, "I just can't find any time!"

This is the wrong way to think. It leads to the idea that you're getting nothing done! How is that possible? Think of the basics here. Are you alive? Yes. Is it because you have food available to you in at least a minimum quantity? Yes. Well then, you've got life's number one problem solved!!! How do you get food? By earning money, and that takes . . . time. It's not that you're getting nothing done. You're getting "life" done, and if you remember that, you might breathe a little easier. And please do so, because you need that air to live, too. So far, air is still free to breathe. And because our government isn't really that smart, it's still tax-free to breathe, as well!

If you think you have no time (which, by the way, would make you eternally unchanging), just consider what your time is spent doing. Just because we're not all gazillionaires with time to waste in our summer Castle at Glastonbury doesn't mean we're just spinning our wheels. We're living life! And in the entire history of humanity, that's never been an easy task. So give yourself some credit!

Don't ever wish for more time, you'd just fill it up as you have with every other nanosecond you've been allotted. Instead, look at what you're doing, and think about what you wish you were doing. If you have a goal, and you think that "time" is the only thing stopping you, you are mistaken. You can make anything happen, if your will is strong enough. Yes, everything takes time, but that doesn't mean time is all you need.

So take a look around you, and ask yourself what you would change. Take only one problem at a time, and think about what needs to happen to make that a reality. DO NOT dwell on what is out of your control. Our wills, I'm here to tell you, affect more than just our own little myopic bubble of a life - they affect the world (and people) around us, and cause more changes than we will ever be able to fathom. This is the real "magick," and its within reach of every living soul on the planet.

They say it only takes one person to make a difference in the world. That person is you, and that world . . . is yours! Take your time.

Blessed be,
Syrus
