January 2006 - Thanks to Rosemary Sadler (grand-daughter of Nora Wykes), we have been able to upload a typed copy of Nora's journal from 1909-1910. These girlhood memories are full of information pertaining to family/community history. Please read it and let us know if you have any clues about who the people are that she mentions as well as the events that she records. We will post what notes and information we have gathered as soon as we have opportunity. Click here to read the journal. We believe that Nora is one of the writers (under a pen name) of the Burnet Bulletin which we posted a copy of earlier as she mentions writing for the bulletin along with Maude.
August & September 2005 - We have added a scanned "newsy" article from the Burnet Bulletin dated March 18, 1909. This column is entitled "Langford Items" and makes mention of members of the Charles Wykes family several times. We linked the article to several pages. Click here for quick access to this article.
We also recently received copies of two newspaper notices from April 1863 regarding Edward S. Wykes's death as well as his character and reputation in his short life. These articles are truly treasures, and we have typed them up and added them to the Wykes Family Tree page that we have created. Click here to go directly to the paragraphs about Edward S.
