World War Two Poems

Written During and after WW2 By K Lowe/Oliver

YOU MAY REGAIN THE LAND

YOU MAY REGAIN THE LAND 1948

You may regain the land, devoured by a hungry sea -

You may regain your health; your happiness, maybe;

But if you possessed the world; it’s treasures with which to play,

You couldn’t regain a second of yesterday.

And the world will still roll on

When you think it dreams with you;

And you’ll wake and find you are left behind -

And no one to weep with you;

And you’ll dream of the friends you could have made

Whilst you dreamt of yesterday;

And while you are dreaming of them you’ll miss

The friends you could make today.
