World War Two Poems

Written During and after WW2 By K Lowe/Oliver

GYPSY WITH THE DARK EYES BRIGHT

GIPSY WITH THE DARK EYES BRIGHT 1949

Gipsy with the dark eyes, bright,

How’s my future look tonight?

Goes it right or goes it wrong?

Will my life be short, or long?

Will my health be good or bad?

Will my days be glad or sad?

Gypsy will you tell me this,

Can I look for lasting bliss?

So you shake your head and mutter -

Intelligent words you will not utter.

For another shilling then

P’raps you’ll deign to try again?

On a long journey I am going?

Well - ...alltho’ there is no knowing.

And I know you don’t much care -

That’s last year’s future you’ve got there!
