Shaman King Characters and Bios
Enter a world where there are lost, wandering souls of the dead, forest spirits and ancient gods. There are people who can communicate with these spirits and call them forth into the living world. They are called Shamans. Yoh Asakura is one of these shamans. He and along with allies (spirits) set on an adventure so he can become the Shaman King. It takes strength, skill and Yoh has friends, even a fiance, to help him achieve his destined goal. At the same time at trying to become the Shaman King, he must save all mankind from Hao's evil plans. With the spirit, Amidamaru, his friend Manta, and fiance Anna, he trains in order to enter the Shaman Fight. Only one shaman every 500 years can "channel" the "king of spirits" and become the Shaman King!!
Yoh Asakura - He is a descendant of a long line of Japanese Shamans and an easygoing shaman who's main spirit is Amidamaru, a great samurai. He is able to communicate and integrate with spirits of the dead. He is training to win the Shaman Fight to be the Shaman King. The reason for him wanting to be King, is so he can create a nice, easygoing, peaceful world. He is engaged to Anna.
Anna Kyoyama - She is 13 year's old and Yoh's fiance.She was trained by You's grandmother, Kino Asakura. She is powerful and she has the abitlty to summon ghosts whenever and wherever she wants. She can even summon ghosts from heaven which most Shamans can't do. She helps with Yoh's training so he can be Shaman King. She shares the same idea about having the world Yoh wants to create if he's King.
Amidamaru - He is a samurai spirit from 600 years ago who's soul haunted Funbari Hill (cemetary). He is known as "the fiend". He died in Japan's violent Muromachi Era (1334-1467). He continued to haunt Funbari Hill until he became Yoh's yojimbo (bodyguard). He was found by Yoh, waiting in a cemetery. He was waiting to fufill a promise to his friend, Mosuke (Mosuke fixed Amidamaru's sword, Harusame). Yoh helped him find Mosuke. For his help, Amidamaru follows Yoh and helps him on his adventures. Amidamaru's name is based on the chant "Nama Amida Butsu" a Buddhist prayer. (little factoid for you)
Manta Oyamada - He met Yoh in a cemetery on his way home from school. They became good friends. Manta has a sixth sense and is able to see spirits. But unlike Yoh, he is unable to use their abilities. He is very interested in shamans, what they are about and what they can do.
Ryu the Wooden Sword - He is a leader of a gang looking for a place to "belong". He and his gang feel like they didn't fit in society or anywhere. After he met Yoh, he decided he wanted to be a shaman. Mikihisa, Yoh's father, teaches him to be a shaman.
Mikihisa Asakura - He is Yoh's father. He watches Yoh's progress from afar. He takes a liking to Ryu and trains him in the ways of the shaman.
Hao - He looks like Yoh, in fact he is Yoh's twin brother. He is a very powerful shaman. He wants to be the Shaman King so he can make a world of just strictly shamans. He wants to kill off all humans because he believes humans have ruined the world.
Chocolove - He is also a shaman that Yoh picked up on his way to a village. Although he is not very funny, the reason he wants to be Shaman King is to become a great comedian so he can spread joy and laughter everywhere. His oversoul is to evil spirits.
Horo Horo - He is a shaman fo the Ainu tribe. He wants to be the Shaman King in order to save the Koro Pokkuru race and create a place for them to live (Koro Pokkuru are fairy like people who have lived with his people for centuries). His spirit is Kororu (uses ice power).
Pirika - She is Horo Horo's little sister. She helps train him so he can be the Shaman King.
Faust VIII - He is a shaman who first studied to be a doctor to save his love, Eliza from a life threatening disease. He was able to cure her and went to lead a happy life with her. Then tragedy struck, Eliza was murdered which caused him to go insane. In order to try and bring her back somewhat, he started studying necomancy. He is competing in the Shaman King Tournament in order to revive his love Eliza. He has a pure heart which makes him dangerous but an powerful ally.
Lyserg - He is a whiny person with low self esteem. He wants to become stronger in order to get revenge for his parents death.
Tamao - She is a psychic shaman who trained with Yoh in the past as children. She has 2 spirits, Ponchi (racoon spirit) and Konchi (fox spirit).
Dao Ren - He is the first shaman Yoh fights with before the Shaman Fight. He is very determined at beating Yoh in becoming the Shaman King. He wants to become the Shaman King in order to restore the Tao Family. His spirit is Bason, a Chinese warrior. He fights with a kwando, an ancient chinese halbred (spear). He is known also known as Lian (Mandarin Chinese for Ren). He is a shaman from China. He isn't really nice to Bason. He views ghosts/spirits as tools to be used and he is rather demanding and mean of them. He shows no compassion for them. Ren is skilled in the martial arts.

Tokegaroh- He is Ryu the Wooden Sword's spirit.
