Warriors of Wu

The Kingdom of Wu lies to the Southeast of the Chang Jiang river with its capital at Jiasn Ye. Founded by Sun Jian and expanded by his sons, Wu is supported by a mix of veteran officers and fresh young talent

Sun Jian

Ruler of Wu. A quick thinker with nerves of steel. Often called "the tiger of Jiang Dong"

Sun Ce

Sun Ce was the hasty and impatient eldest son of Sun Jian. When he was 17, his father died during an attack on Liu Baio, leaving Sun Ce to unite the Wu lands and defend it from Liu Bei and Cao Cao. Although he was young, he was a great war leader, earning the nickname "Little Conquerer" for his military accomplishments. He was the sworn brother of Zhou Yu, and the two were said to be close friends. Sun Ce wasted away at the age of 25, haunted by the ghost of the magician Yu Ji, leaving his brother to finish his work. Yuan Shu said of him "If I had a son like Sun Ce, I should die without regret".

Sun Quan

Sun Quan was the younger brother of Sun Ce and son of Sun Jian, taking over Wu after his brother's death. Before he died, Sun Ce said of his brother "in encouraging the wise and confiding in the able and getting the best out of everyone for the preservation of this land, I should not succeed as you will". Sun Quan became the first emperor of Wu, and he was a popular ruler who "won the love of all the people".

Sun Shang Xiang

Sun Shang Xiang was described as "a tough lady", "always delighted to look upon war and is very fierce and determined." Though historically she never fought in any battles, her rooms were decorated with weapons and her handmaidens could fence.

Zhou Yu

Zhou Yu of Shucheng was the close friend and advisor to Sun Ce and later Sun Quan. His skill at strategy and politics led Sun Ce at his death to reccomend to his brother "for internal affairs, turn to Zhang Zhao; for outer matters you must consult Zhou Yu". Zhou Yu is largely responsible for the spectacular defeat of Cao Cao at Chi Bi, during which Cao Cao's navy was ravaged by fire.

Huang Gai

Huang Gai of Ling Ling was a faithful officer of Wu, serving under Sun Jian, Sun Ce and Sun Quan. He was the good friend of Kan Ze, and instrumental in the battle of Chi Bi. During that battle he was struck by an arrow and thrown into the sea, but was rescued by Han Dang.

Taishi Ci

Taishi Ci of Laihuang was a filial son, dutiful to his mother. After serving Kong Rong for a short time he was an officer to Liu Yao. While in Liu Yao's service Sun Ce and Taishi Ci dueled to a draw, and later when Liu Yao was killed Taishi Ci switched allegiance to Sun Ce, becoming one of his most trustworthy and able generals. At the battle of He Fei he was ambushed by Zhang Liao and died from those wounds, grieving that he never did any great services to Wu.

Lu Meng

Lu Meng of Ru Nan was a steadfast officer of Wu, a warrior and a scholar. He was fair and righteous, forbidding his own troops from pillaging and enforcing his rules strictly. He even executed a friend for stealing a hat from a villager.

Lu Meng hatched the plot to capture Guan Yu on a trail north of Maicheng. The plan succeeded, and Guan Yu was captured and executed. However, before he died Guan Yu said "If I cannot slay [Lu Meng] while I live, I will after I am dead. My hate shall not go unappeased", and his words came true. At the feast in Lu Meng's honor, Guan Yu's spirit possessed Lu Meng and killed him.

Lu Xun

Cao Rui said "Lu Xun knows the art of war even as did Sun Tzu and Wu Qi". It is true that he was a master at strategy, on par with people like Sima Yi and Zhuge Liang. Despite his great talent, he was humble and deferential. Kan Ze, who recommended him strongly to Sun Quan, said of him "He is well-known to be a scholar, but really he is a bold and capable man, no whit inferior to Zhou Yu". In physical appearance he was described as "...eight spans in height, with a beautiful face, like the finest jade".

Gan Ning

Gan Ning was a pirate from Ling Jiang, described by Lu Meng as "...something of a scholar, [he] is forceful, fond of wandering about as a fighter-errant". Gan Ning was first an officer under Huang Zu but grew discontent when Huang Zu passed him over for advancement because he was a pirate. He defected to Wu and murdered Huang Zu in revenge. One of his most memorable accomplishments was a successful nighttime raid of Cao Cao's camp with only 100 men and not a single casualty. For this Sun Quan said "Cao Cao may have his Zhang Liao, but I can match him with my friend Gan Ning". Years later Gan Ning died of an arrow wound to the head. As he lay dying under a tree in Fuchikou, hundreds of crows gathered around his body as if to protect it.

Da Qiao

The wife of Sun Ce and daughter of a poweful duke from the South Land. Also the sister of Xiao Qiao. She and her sister were called "The Two Qiaos", famed for their beauty. Cao Cao, ruler of Wei had heard of them, and being friends with their father planned on marrying them. However, Zhou Yu and Sun Ce married the two sisters before Cao Cao could claim them.

Xiao Qiao

The wife of Zhou Yu and daughter of a poweful duke from the South Land. Also the sister of Da Qiao. She and her sister were called "The Two Qiaos", famed for their beauty. Cao Cao greatly desired to possess the Two Qiaos. His son Cao Zhi wrote a poem about the Bronze Bird Terrace which contained the most beautiful women Cao Cao could collect. The poem contained a reference to the Two Qiaos. When Zhuge Liang recited this poem to Zhou Yu it provoked him into attacking Cao Cao.

Zhou Tai

Uh... This profile hasn't been written yet, but I can tell you at least that Zhou Tai used to be a pirate, and saved Sun Quan's life on two occasions. And no, he's not a samurai. That's Japan, not China.
