Canny Crafting Traditional Witchcraft

Witchcraft without the Wicca!

The Land

The Land is the most sacred element to the Trad Crafter as this is the very heart and soul of the Craft; Mother Nature ! A great pool of memory lies within the land. Great forces emerge from it and flow through it.

Every single being of this world manifests within the land as does the subconscious mind. We are part of it and it is part of us, we are inseparable.

The Land serpents

There are great spirals of energy which manifest from within the lands and these power points are connected by what are termed as Ley lines. It is through these energy points that the Ancestors would have based the buildings of the ancient sites, monuments and burial mounds, even roads temples and camps etc.

There are spirit roads or ghost roads that emerge from natural features around the landscape, rivers springs etc; and spirits are said to walk roads of water, so by performing the housle we can utilise the powers of the land and these waters.

The following features are useful when performing workings of Traditional Craft.

The Crossed Roads

Places where two roads cross;  esp in lonely areas are traditional places to perform witchcraft as these were seen as spiritually charged areas esp where hangings often took place.

Trees

Trees esp Thorn, Ash and Oak that are old and have large root systems are places of power and connect this world to the underworld. Sometimes by creating lines from tree to tree and then seeing where the lines cross we can create an ideal area for the centre of the compass-ring.

Standing Stones.

Stone circles and standing stones are excellent power/energy points, the stones transmit and receive magnetic energies. Places like Avebury, Long Meg, Castlerigg etc can have rejuvenating effects and can produce glimpses of the unseen, sometimes people have seen the serpent energies and some stones are marked with spirals too !
