Who We Are & What We Do

The Wingnuts Booster club is a small but growing group of people dedicated to keeping professional baseball and the National Baseball Congress (NBC) in Wichita. The club was developed with the belief that sports can bring a community together and help unite family and community.

As a Booster Club of the Wichita Wingnuts we help to provide a connection between the professional athletes on the team and the community. One of the most important things the club does is operating the Host Family program. In this program we place players with families in the Wichita area. The players live with these families and become a member of the family during their time in Wichita. This gives the players a greater feeling of connection to the community.

In addition to the Host Family program the club and it's members provide post-game meals to both the home and visiting team on a given day during home-stands. Because the players do not get home cooked meals very often these meals are home cooked not catered. We also provide bus and clubhouse snacks. Members help with handing out game day promotions & fund-raising.

As a benefit of belonging to the club and being an active member the club has several exclusive parties with the players and management during the season. We hold a Welcome party at the start of the season, a mid-season picnic and an award & appreciation party at the end of the season. We also have the privilege of having the players at our booth on set game nights to sign autographs.

During the NBC the club runs a Baseball Scout hospitality booth in which we supply the scouts with drinks, snacks and meals.

In the coming years we are looking to expand on what the club does for the Wingnuts, NBC and the Community with your help and support

Fund Raising

At the end of the 2009 season and looking forward to the 2010 season the booster club is once again looking at a lofty goal in funding. A call for $3000.00, with these funds we provide club-house snacks, bus snacks, Sunday post-game meals to both the visiting and home team, a season opening welcome dinner, mid-season picnic and end of season appreciation dinner.

During the NBC we supply the MLB scouts with snacks, drinks and a few meals.

All of this can be very draining on our members financially, in the coming months we are going to be introducing some new fund raising projects and continue with our ongoing fund raising.

Please check out the fund-raising & forum page's for more information.
