Poetry

Here are some of my attempts at poetry.  I don't profess to be perfect.  I've never had any classes on meter and so on, but I did my best.

"Day After Day" Dedicated to the men and women of the Armed Forces

Day after day,
You fight for your country.
Day after day,
You spend in the sun.

Day after day,
We send up a prayer.
And day after day,
We thank God for you.

 Day after day,
You may be discouraged,
But day after day,
We pray you have strength.

Day after day,
May you never hunger.
And continuously pray,
May you never falter.

Day after day,
May you have strength.
And may someone always say,
That you are loved.

Day after day,
Praying for you,
For now and alway,
Strength, wisdom, and courage.

Day after day,
We say thank you,
Though in every way,
It’ll never be enough.

Day after day,
You invest your time,
And day after day,
We wait for your return.

Though day after day,
We’re rather silent,
Day after day,
We support your work.

Day after day,
You can always count,
That now and always,
We’ll offer up a prayer.

Day after day.

"My Father" To my Father in Heaven Who loves me!

My Father is rich,
He has houses of gold,
Cows on a thousand hills,
And riches untold.

He’s building me a mansion
In that Heavenly “town”,
And to sit upon my head,
He’s giving me a crown.

His grace is never ending,
His love is forever,
His mercy endureth,
Forever and ever.

 I love Him, I know,
He’ll be there for me,
His love and compassion,
For all eternity.

People may ask,
“Who is this Man?”
But I’m here to tell you,
“He’s no ordinary Man!”

He’s my Father above,
Who lives in Heaven,
With Angels and glory,
And love He has given.

He sits on a throne,
And waits for the day,
When He welcomes His children,
In light array.

"My Daddy" To the man who's loved my mother and us kids these past 21 years!

Some people’s dads are rich,
Some people’s dads are tall,
Some people’s dads are famous,
My daddy…is smaller then nearly all.

Some people’s dads are company presidents,
Some people’s dads are senators,
Some people’s dads are pastors,
My daddy, he was a Navy sailor.

You see, it doesn’t really matter,
How much he makes,
It doesn’t really matter,
How well he’s known.

It matters to me,
That he’s my daddy,
I love him,
And he loves me.

"Friends" To my dearest and closest friend, Kara!

Friends are forever,
Friends are to love,
Friends never waver.
Friends are from above.

Love them and cherish them,
They’ll be there for you,
So lift up your chin,

And treasure them anew.

Change is inevitable,
Though as hard as it may be,
But Friends to the end,
We always will be.
