Death Note is an awesome manga and also anime series created by the writer Tsugumi Ohba and the illustrator Takeshi Obata. The manga was first published in Shonen Jump during December 2003, it continued until May 2006. The anime was first released soon after the manga, it has and still is aired on a different variety of channels. The manga has 108 chapters whilst the anime has 37 episodes + 1 movie.This anime is set in Japan and is about an intelligent adolescent named Light Yagami, he comes across a notebook on day with the words "Death Note" written across it. Being as smart as he is, he just believes it to be some little prank but his curiosity gets the better of him as he decides to try it out. Soon to his surprise he finds out that it actually works! With this powerful notebook Light hopes to make a new world and become God of that world, where criminals were non-existent. Due to the huge number of deaths happening to criminals, police & FBI start trying to discover the murderer who is now known as "kira". This is when the famous detective "L" is required, he puts up challenge after challenge for kira, L even risks his own life by showing himself in public to the Japanese police, L is super smart and has weird characteristics but he is a very much loved character. As the plot thickens, a lot of unexpected twists occur. This anime sure makes you think, that's why so many people love it! There are also quite a few different characters in this manga/anime, you get your normal citizens, weird yet awesome detectives like L and they even include Shinigami, death gods, in this anime they are the rulers of the Death Note, which makes the story even more awesome! So does Light prevail as Kira? Or is he caught not by L but maybe some other characters who are introduced further in the series, WHAT HAPPENS?
