Crease Patterns
 

A crease pattern is the pattern that exists when the base of a model is unfolded. It does not show all of the folds in the model, but it does show the underlying geometry behind the model. Crease patterns have become more popular recently as a means of conveying an origami design. Some people have learn to fold models entirely using the crease pattern. For more information, see here.
