AIKO UEMATSU SENSEI
Born in Tokyo on March 3, 1934, Aiko Uematsu is the founder of World Mate with Toshu Fukami and the original disciples. She is the mentor of Toshu Fukami, leader of World Mate. She received a revelation from God at the age of 37 to guide young people to follow the true path of virtue and started to gather and educate promising youths in Tokyo. Her teachings is based on Shinto which stresses the importance of daily life activities.
She has been practicing and teaching traditional Japanese culture, including Tea ceremony, flower arrangement, Kitsuke (kimono dressing), cooking etc. She is a master of two schools of Tea ceremony; Edo Senke Shin ryu school and the Issa school, and one school of flower arrangement; the Sogetsu school. She is also proficient in coposing Japanese poems (Tanka), singing and dancing.
Her cake repertoire numbers more than 2,000 types, and they have been highly commended by experts from all over the world for their taste and sophistication.
She has the respect and trust of World Mate members and is regarded as the Japanese Mother Mary.
 


TOSHU FUKAMI SENSEI
Toshu Fukami was born in 1951, in Japan. He graduated from Doshisha University in Kyoto, with a degree in economics and pursued post graduate studies in voice at Musashino Academia Musicae. He has received the title `Honorary Fellow of London University, School of Oriental and African studies`. He is also a distiguished professor of history at Quinghua University(China), lecturer at Wolverhampton University (UK) on business and management, as well as at Zhejiang University (China) on Japanese culture, and several other universities around the world.
Although he is well known Shinto spiritualist, Toshu Fukami has also completed a program of religious training on Mt. Hiei, one of Japan`s oldest monastic centres of Buddhist scholarship and religious practice. He also is an ordained Zen Buddhist priest in the Rinzai tradition. Deeply involved in social causes, Mr.Fukami seves as vice chairman of the International Shinto Foundation, an NGO recognised by the United Nations and spiritual leader of World Mate.
Toshu Fukami`s interest in and knowledge of performing arts includes styles from both eastern and western cultures. Not only is he a teacher of Noh theatre, but also is a Master of Japanese calligraphy, Japanese flower arranging and Japanese tea ceremony.
