Yes, we got nine inches of snow and ice in my backyard on Valentine's Day. I wouldn't mind it so much but tomorrow is my writer's group. The Black Diamond Writer's Network only gets together once a month and its my only chance to talk to other writers live and in person. So I'm a little blue. We're a new group--just started in the fall. You can check out the website at www.bdwn.org. It's not much yet. I just like the opportuntiy to talk to other people struggling with the same things I am.
Learned something new at the library--big surprise! Ever heard of altered art? That's when you take something that belongs at the recycle center and turn it into art. In this case it's old books and we're creating altered books as a fundraiser for our local library. Who's us? Well, some true artists but a lot of people just like me who like books, like libraries but can't draw a straight line with a ruler. The hardest part is ripping out pages to make room for your art. The easiest part is deciding you don't like something you've done and ripping out the page. When we got our books(our canvases)I got a 50 year old geography book. Somehow it's becoming a World War II love story. If you want to learn more about our books or bid on a book check us out at http://bookarts.blogspot.com/index.htmlThe auction is in mid-april to celebrate National Library Week. And I managed to sell an article on my quirky new hobby to PA Magazine. But now I have a new anxiety--what if no one bids on my book????
