What is Wonga?

FINE! I'll go make my own wrestling company! With BLACKJACK!! And… HOOKERS!!”

The words famously shouted at Titan Towers back in June 2001 as Brian Boitano was escorted from the premises after being dismissed from position of head writer at (the then) WWF headquarters. A former Olympic gold medal winner (figure skating), Boitano was deemed to have ideas for the company that were (according to the McMahons) unsuitable for their audience. After several anonymous donations and a brief stint presenting hit TV show “Bargain Hunt”, Boitano had acquired enough money to live his dream and go into competition with his former employers. After successfully negotiating the purchase of the Millennium Dome, Greenwich, England for a mere £1.27, Boitano set to work and thus the WORLD WONGA FEDERATION was born!

Of course, TV standards in England are slightly higher than those in America, so the blackjack and hookers haven't made quite the impact Boitano originally envisaged. But, with a collection of top stars betraying the now WWE and the cream of British Wrestling, the World Wonga Federation can only be described as “lovely stuff” (not our words, those of Shakin' Stevens).

Wonga is now expanding further and recently opened a regional office in Manchester to recognise the superiority of the north in all things violent.

Sadly things never worked out for Boitano, and after much soul searching, in September 2004 he quit the company.  After quick negotiation with interested parties, on the date of 13th September 2004 John Porter took control of the company. The new era began...
