TIME FOR A CHANGE

Luke 7:39 says This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for he is a sinner.

A friend once told  me, "In my life-time I've seen a lot of things change, and I've been against them all!" Perhaps he overstated the point, but many of us would agree that we don't like change especially if it involves altering our habits and attitudes. That's one reason Jesus was so unpopular among the Pharisees. He challenged their long-established system of good works and self-righteous living. Consider the incident when the town "sinner' entered the home of the town "saint" in Luke 7. Simon the Pharisee wasn't impressed with the woman's lavish display of affection for Jesus. Reading Simon's self-righteous thoughts, Jesus immediately challenged his flawed perception of his own goodness by telling the story of two debtors-one who owed much to his master and one who owed less. "Which of them will love him more?" Jesus asked (v.42). Obviously, the one who had been forgiven more. Speaking to Simon's I-fell-pretty-good-about-myself attitude, Jesus said , "to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little" (v.47). The challenge is clear. Lulled into thinking how good we are, our love for Jesus wanes because we have forgotten that we too are among the ones "forgiven much." And when that happen, ready or not, it's time for a change! -by Joe Stowell

When God starts changing things, He usually begins with changing us.

May I

May I tell you about a book
which I have now read,
and to my curious heart and mind
this book wisely and gently feed

The words spoke of a promise and love
one so pure, undying and so unique
and page to page and cover to cover
this book proved to be like no other

It opened my eyes, heart, and mind
speaking of promises that would come,
giving me insight, clarity, a vision
and better each time a chapter was done

Such a wonderful and timely book
though it was written so very long ago,
so amazing to me then and still is now
for I can see the words and promises unfold

Now just how could this be, I ask
just how could the writers even know
that they could answers my questions today
with this book written so very long ago

I thought no one could know my questions
so how could it answer each and every one,
it’s like someone was reading my mind
or finishing my sentence before I was done

Amazed, I had to find the author of this book
so full of wisdom, insight and love has He,
for no other author or writer has ever moved me
to the point that in Him I would totally believe

So now I can’t help but share this book
so very rare but not very hard to locate and find,
you’ll find peace, hope, mercy and grace
and not one hint of a lie in any chapter or line

See, the great book is called the Bible
a book that many have seen but will not read,
but it was written for life, guidance and instructions
and not for the reviews, fame, money or greed

So open its pages and read the stories within
Please read it with an open heart and mind,
you too will find that perfect peace and joy
a true story of gifts so blessed and divine

Starting Your Day Right

Psalm 94:18 says When I said, My foot is slipping, Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, held me up.

Some people seem to start their day on the "wrong foot." Tehy feel all right when they wake up, but as soon
as something goes wrong, they lose their footing and walk with a "loser's limp" the rest of the day. Once they
are off to a bad start, it seems they never catch up.
If someone offends us early in the morning, our anger can keep us defensive all day. If we start the day rushing, it seems we never slow down. But today our feet dcan be firmly planted in God's Word. There will be no "bad day" when God's Word sup-
ports, strengthens, and directs us.
