Well, WC is now at version 1.2, and it's shaping up to be something special!
For those that care, WeaselChat started out as a way to learn Windows Socket programming and make something at least semi-useful at the same time. I'd been wanting some sort of private chat room my friends and I could set up and connect to in an instant for a quick chat and take it all down again after, easily. It serves that purpose well in it's current version. However, I'm still learning and thus will add features to it for the experience that provides. It is by no means finished, just in a very early release, not very good. It'll get better though, I promise. Kind of like what happened with SW: Galaxies, but without the hype. ;)
Current Features:
- Chat works! Server is set up on a specified port number, and all clients connect with an IP and the port number.
-The ability to save a conversation to a .txt file.
-Version verification (prevents outside sources from staying connected, as well as users of old WC versions)
-*NEW* Admin commands (/kick, /own and /freeze so far) - use /cmds to display a list of commands
-Server side only: possible to choose the max number of chatters at one time.
Future Features:
-A realtime list of the people in the room in a box on the side of the main chat window.
-Word wrap (low priority -- c'mon, it's not that hard to scroll over! Lazy bastards... :))
-Password protection
-Better flood control (Codenamed "Anti-QuikWare")
Random Ideas:
-Make something like Ventrillo. (Riiiiiight.....:))
-Prevent spoofing of names (Uh huh...maybe if I didn't have to learn database programming FROM SCRATCH!
Well, actually, it may not be as bad as I thought... we shall see!)
