The people in Yamcha's life

There are many, many characters in Dragonball & Dragonball Z, and Yamcha has interacted with a number of them.
Some are friends, some are enimies, and some are mere aquentances.



Puar

Puar is the shape-shifting cat companion of Yamcha. They met each other in the year 747 A.D.
During the first saga of Dragonball (when Yamcha was more of a ruthless bad guy than a nice good guy), Puar seemed to be more of a servant, and Yamcha was her master. When Yamcha allied with Goku, his evil way's deminished and Yamcha became nicer and more pleasent towards everyone, including Puar. From then, they where no longer servant and master, but friends. Puar seems to be around the same age as Yamcha. She is very loyal to him and cares a great deal for him. Puar can shape-shift into just about any thing and can stay in that form for as long as she likes.

 Goku

Goku is a long time friend of Yamcha. They met each other around the beginning of Dragonball (episode 4) but not in good terms. Yamcha, being a villain at the time, came off as being very agressive and dangerous. Both Goku and Yamcha were the first real challange in a fight that they have ever come across. It was Goku (with some help from Bulma) who transformed Yamcha from a ruthless, bloodthirsty desert bandit to a more civil, good-hearted comrade and defender of the weak. Both Goku and Yamcha have been friendly competitors and rivals for some time, but when it became apparent to Yamcha that Goku had become too powerful for him to challenge any more, Yamcha put Goku in the place of being his inspiration when Yamcha trains. Yamcha has a great amount of respect for Goku and admires him as a warrior.

Bulma

Yamcha had first laid eyes on Bulma during his first confrontation with Goku. Because of Yamcha's crippling shyness towards pretty females, he got distracted seeing Bulma, wich costed him his victory against Goku. Through out the first saga of Dragonball, Yamcha spent enough time with Bulma that he was able to get over his shyness problem (also, it helped that Bulma was madly in love with Yamcha). Through out the rest of Dragonball, Yamcha and Bulma were a very close couple. In the beginning of Dragonball Z, there was some turbulance in their relationship. They some how worked it out and made plans to get married when Yamcha returned from his trainning and battle with the Saiyans. Due to a twist of fate, their plans were radicaly altered. After Yamcha's arrival back to the mortal realm, their relationship started to get weak. Durring the three year period of preperation for the androids, Bulma slowly developed an interest in her current house guest, Vegeta. From that point, Bulma juggled both Yamcha and Vegeta in her love life. Eventualy Bulma had to leave Yamcha due to an accidental pregnancy with Vegeta. Although Yamcha was at first for some time greatly disapointed and upset with what happened, he eventualy was able to put it behind him and remain as friends with Bulma.
