Characteristics

Through out the series, Yamcha has gone through changes. Physical, Mental, and Spiritual.

Physical Changes

Yamcha is known to wear only two different uniforms in the series.

Dragonball

Yamcha sometimes wore a red or white headband.

This is the kanji symbol on the front of the uniform.
It means "Music".

Dragonball Z

Yamcha has also worn the heavy training shirt and heavy training boots (boots not shown in picture).

This is the kanji symbol on the front and back of Yamcha's uniform.
Those who trained under Master Roshi bear this symbol.
It means "Turtle".

This is the kanji symbol on the back of the uniform after the Frieza Saga.
Those who trained under King Kai bear this symbol.
It means "Happiness".

Hair Styles

Yamcha has gone through several hair styles
(almost as often as Bulma, and half of his hair style changes are because of Bulma).

Yamcha makes his first appearance with his long "bad boy" hair style.

Later on in Dragonball, Bulma makes Yamcha get a hair cut.

As time passes, Yamcha's hair gets longer.

By the end of Dragonball, Yamcha's hair is quite long again.

At the begining of Dragonball Z, Yamcha's hair is back to the long, thick, wild, unkempt look.
Yamcha maintains this style all the way to the end of the Frieza Saga.

After the Frieza Saga, Bulma makes Yamcha cut his hair again.

During the Android Saga and Cell Saga, Yamcha slicks his hair up, giving it a tall spikey look, simular to Vegeta.

By the time of the World Tournament Saga and Buu Saga,
Yamcha is no longer with Bulma but for some reason he's sporting the short look again.
