RECIPES FOR MAGICAL INKS
Dragon's Blood Ink is not only a magical ink, but also the base for Bat's Blood Ink and Dove's Blood Ink. Dragon's Blood resin is not soluble in water, therefore, you will need an alcohol base in at least 70 proof to dissolve your resin. Rubbing alcohol is around 70 percent alcohol, but it is recommended to use Isopropyl Alcohol at 90 percent or greater. Because alcohol is a preservative, you can store your inks at room temperature. Be advised your homemade inks will be an orange-like color.
Dragon's Blood Ink
2 tbs. powdered dragon's blood resin
1 cup alcohol
Put your resin in a 1 pint canning jar. Top it off with your alcohol and cover with the lid. Shake the jar once a day for up to one week (more if using lower proof alcohol). Strain and discard the resin by placing a paper towel or coffee filter inside a regular kitchen strainer over another container for catching the ink. Store the finished inks in their own dark glass bottle with lid.
Bat's Blood Ink
1 ounce Dragon's Blood Ink
10 drops of Chamomile Oil
10 drops of Myrrh Oil
10 drops Cinnamon Oil
Dove's Blood Ink
1 ounce Dragon's Blood Ink
10 drops of Cinnamon Oil
10 drops of Bay Oil
10 drops of Rose Oil
