Welcome to the World Martial Artists Association website!!
Simple, yes, but a website just the same.
So many people have a message these days. Some of great importance, some not so much so. Bottom line, is now one can pick from literally thousands of organizations to belong to in the martial arts, when if one looks closely enough, all offer the same thing pretty much.
Many organizations have made a lot of money. It's truly a business just like anything else. And like all business, there are up times, and down times. The downtime is now. Besides fast food joints, I do not think anything is as saturated as the martial arts organization market. Almost every conceivable name has been used, and everyone is offering everyone else's services, just under a different banner.
The internet has laid foundation to the creation of a multitude of free organizations now. Everybody and their cat has a federation of some sort because reaching millions to communicate it's existance is possible for everyone. Like everything else, there are pros and cons to that. mostly cons from what I have found.
People are lured by different things. Some like the expensive, professional look. it is a good thing indeed. However, one usually finds lower quality martial arts expertise in such groups. Then you have people shying away from the free organizations, and their free websites, because of the cheap appearance of it all, only to find quality martial technicians and philosophers involved.
So how does one chose, and why? I don't know. If anything, I would say judge the people involved. Intelligence and quality isn't hard to detect. Look for it. Where you find it, be there. Where you don't, stay away.
The World Martial Artists Association has a free website. Is it because we're cheap? Sure is. We are just a bunch of true martial artists that aren't concerned if our uniforms smell of downey. We train hard, and we have fun. We are just normal people who get along, and like things simple.
We don't charge for membership, because our costs are low. Truth of the matter is, nobody can justify a membership fee these days, other than the fact it is income for the executive of the organization. Charging for organizational materials is fair, because there is a cost for production, but not a large one.
Martial arts organizations are just people. And in most cases, people who don't know you. How does that make them worth a membership fee? Anyway, I don't want to rant and fuel to many fires because I have better things to do.
Bottom line, is we at the WMAA are martial artists. we train, we teach, and we support one another. Simple as that. Want to see what it's like being affiliated with us? Give us a try. It's free.
