WITW Northern Lights Chapter

Chapter Meeting 1/18/09

 

1. Welcome Introductions – at The Darboy Club (was very hospitable)
2. Members attending: Donna Duvall, Diane Jahn, Nicole Riley, Pauline Forrest
3. Guests attending: Teri, friend of Donna’s (with same spelling as Teri of our group and person who drew the door prize name); Dean Riley, father of Nicole

5. Volunteers
   1. Calendar – see updated calendar attached; please volunteer your name as contact for an event that you may ride regularly; Diane would like to host a ride to MC Memorial in Egg Harbor, Door County at a date TBD.
   2. STB Entries – does any one want to volunteer a contribution
   3. Monday night rides - please volunteer to sponsor a Monday night ride night from your local area
   4. $15 WITW Dues due first day of spring - Send to Pauline by 3/15/09 or send in by 3/21/09 yourself.
6. 2009 Safe Mileage Contest – flyers provided
7. Recruitment:

                                                              i.      Adopt a bike shop and supply WITW info.

                                                            ii.      Pauline will send out a spring letter to interested ladies; send names and addresses of anyone you know interested in WITW to Pauline

8. WITW Summer Nationals – 148 days to go!
   1. June 18-21, 2009; meet at Diane’s on 6/17 (Wed PM) leave 6/18 (Thursday AM)
   2. Embassy Suites, International Airport, Kansas City, MO., $105 ($115 est) a night, two nights booked
   3. $75 Pre 3/31/09; $90 after – Members; event schedule not published yet.
   4. 637.7 miles; 10hr 18 minutes (from Pauline’s House via Mapquest)
   5. Cost   

                                                              i.      Fuel @40mpg & $2 a gal = 637/40@$2 = $31.85

                                                            ii.      Hotel 2 nights@115; 4 per room = $230 (est)/4 = $57.50

                                                          iii.      Other hotel/camping to and from ???

                                                          iv.      WITW Registration = $75

                                                            v.      T-Shirt = $25

                                                          vi.      Total = $189.35 (with a T-shirt)

 

9. AMA Women’s Motorcycling Conference
   1. August 19-22, 2009
   2. Keystone, CO., $189/200est. a night, three nights booked
   3. Registration???
   4. 1187 miles; 18hr 11 minutes (from Pauline’s House via Mapquest)
   5. Cost   

                                                              i.      Fuel @40mpg & $2 a gal = 1187/40@$2 = $59.35  ($74.18@$2.5)

                                                            ii.      Keystone 3 nights@ 4 per room = $600/4 = $150

                                                          iii.      Other hotel/camping to and from ???

                                                          iv.      Registration = $??  I’m thinking $100.

                                                            v.      Total = $309.35 (with no T-shirt)

 

10. Other items brought up at meeting:
    1. Donna is going with a group to the Chicago MC show on Feb 6 and there is one open spot.
    2. Diane and Pauline are going to the Motorcycle show in Minneapolis on Feb 13. to promote the AMA Women in MC conference; not sure of the costs at this time
    3. Colie (Nicole) sells Pure Romance and brought brochures.
    4. Diane is a member of Women on Wheels; WOW has a member registry for out of town assistance.  Diane will review the WOW calendar to put important WOW calendar events on ours.
    5. Colors were discussed and decided that we will have a tie dye at our Sunday, 4/5/09 meeting.  Please make a note of this date change.
    6. Donna and Diane paid their dues in advance of March 21 deadline
    7. Door prize was won by Teri Boos who was not in attendance.
