I wish good Yule and the blessings of this dark season to you all!
Check out the new Arddhu Loyal sites that have been created as a response to the growing interest being expressed in the Old Craft Witchcraft of our land. Each site offers an insight into the ways of Witch, and has been written and contributed to by those for whom Witchcraft is far more than a passing fancy, a label to be used or discarded upon a whim. There are some who would do well to remember this.
There are those who would attempt to undermine the important work done by those who are truly Witch, however they are already realising the foolishness of their ways. We are strong and we are alsoTrue.
We know, we care - and we also DARE.
Now the year is changing – the nights becoming dark again, and the days shortening.
Samhain approaches – a time for reflection and for celebration too. Those of us who follow the Dark Ways of Witch are already preparing for this special time, and anticipating so many things…
On the full of the moon this month, I went for a long walk in the hills above the River Clyde. There I picked plump sloes, hazed with their bloom of ashen white, deep blue-black, and ripe with their subtly sharp scent which brings back memories of other dark nights.
Nights spent beneath the stars, where my only companion is the owl. The sounds are those made by the wind, by running water tumbling over rocks, and the occasional high pitched squeaking of the bats as they hunt beneath the canopy of ancient trees.
Soon the frost will bring about a deeper transformation, as the workd here settles down for the long sleep of winter. On those nights the world becomes a place of sublime beauty - the moonlight silvers the frozen grass, the tree arms reach skyward, seeming to embrace the stars above. On nights like these, one loses all sense of time, transported elsewhere, far beyond the mundane.
These journeys do not come without their cost though! However, everything worth attaining comes at a price. The Witch knows this, and willingly goes forward to claim that which has been earned.
