witherbrow

introduction

 welcome to witherbrow

the purpose of this site is to chronicle/record the building of my new layout - still called witherbrow but much much smaller, manageable, and above all - completable!

the idea

Well after about 5 guises witherbrow is now in its final form - the tmd was pretty much set in stone with just money (once again) becoming the deciding factor. The final layout is now 4Ft long by about 11 inches wide, the plan is based on the old 'Z' formation so it will be mainly used asa shunting layout. The background behind it is that it serves as a small group of delivery/stabling sidings for a preserved railway (an excuse to run whatever i want) more of this on the 'history page' - well fingers crossed this one gets completed if it doesnt your more than welcome to give me a slap!

progress

26/07/09

as promised ballasting has been done today i was attacked by ants throughout but its all finished now, my ever 'helpful' labradour was out with me all the time playing with his rock lol. next step is to get some copydex and put some green stuff down oh as well as buying the portacabin! should hopefully have that done/started by next sunday so will update again then! hopefully if i have time i will actually get round to do a few things on the site (i.e links page, history and my future projects)

24/07/09

finally got round to sticking something down! well even if its only some scenery its a start, hoping to do the ballasting on sunday (weather permitting) then once thats done i can get the last few pieces of the layout, namely a portacabin and people i do however need to get some trucks and a small tank engine so i can play shunting.
hopefully work wont get in the way too much these few weeks so i can get cracking - thank you to everone who has written in my guestbook i hope to have omething to show you soon lol

Finally took the hardstanding challenge

I used some bog standard filler to create it - using a knife to shape it up to the rail then cleaning it with a rubber to make sure there was no residue left. Other than that not a lot has happened unfortunately work and Transformers 2 has gotten in the way! bout a few bits for the layout namely oil drums and coal sacks oh and some track boards which were a bit disapointing but i was rewarded with a Bachman Railfreight Distrobution vda for 8

Hoping to do some bits of work on the  far side of the layout - i cant really do much until i can get the various bits and bobs from hattons so i can detail around them have made some progress with the box file diorama for which i shall post pictures asap
