Until I see You, Mom

How lucky could the flowers be
As they come out so nicely dressed
And all the earth’s sweet trimmings
Above their heads are placed.
How blessed are all the birds
Who fly and feel the world
And when they’re tired, they need no words
To calm them in their nest.

How lovely’s every word that’s spoken
When it comes with warmth and love
For when the heart speaks, all’s forgotten
Love is all I’ll ever have.
I was once a lucky flower
You dressed me well and fixed my hair
I’d come and face the world
So brave ‘cause you were there.

I was a bird who spread my wings
You taught me how to fly
I never was afraid to fall
You’d catch me by and by.
For every word you’ve spoken
Came with tenderness and love
And no amount of music
Will outdo these memories I have.

I love you, Mom, wherever you may be
I know you see me everyday
I said I loved you then, I’d say it all my life
For one day soon, we’ll meet again ---
One day, when there’s no end to sunshine
No agony and pain…
No room for tears or broken dreams
And only laughter reins.

I’ll see you then in heaven, Mom
I know you’re waiting there
As you can see, I still am here
There’s a mission that’s at hand.
So till I’m with you, watch over me
I may not see your face…or feel your hand
But when I see the flowers dressed and kissed
And when I see the birds above
I know I’m better than the flowers
And stronger than the birds
For you’re right here, you’re telling me
That I’m forever loved!
