I am a small kennel down in Plymouth not far from the edge of Dartmoor and have been interested in Alaskan Malamutes for the last 10 years. I previously owned two Siberian Huskies when I was younger and I have been waiting for circumstances to change so that I could put the effort into one these marvellous dogs. I am the proud owner of two Malamutes at present; Neeko & Kalindi. They are both part of our family and live in the house with Emma (my better half) Scooter (Emma’s Dobermann) and of course me.

Who said i needed a lap dog?

Neeko is a very friendly character and has a tendency to make a lot of noise when visitors come round, as do most Mals. Before buying Neeko I surfed the internet trying to find breeders locally, it was tough. Then I came across a local number, and that’s where my friendship with Jane & Peter York (Snowstruck)  come about. I will always be grateful to Jane & Pete for all  the help support and advice they have given me over the few years I have known them, but mainly due to the addition i have had from there kennel (Kalindi).

Alaskan Malamutes are a lovely breed, but they are not for everyone. At 7 weeks old when you fall in love with that pup, just remember that it will grow and grow into a large very powerful dog that is very free spirited. Be warned though as Jane keeps telling me “once you have one, you’ll always have more"
