Now here is a truly unique breed of sheep. We had first saw them about a year ago at a friends farm in Princeton.
When talking we learned that Katahdin's are are heavy muscled, medium built, docile going meat sheep.
They produce a shedding coat which grows in the winter but comes off in the spring. No shearing, perfect !!
Good maternal instincts, mutiple births and breed all year long. They produce a lean carcass, mild tasting giving it a flavor more to lamb then mutton.
Also lots of color ,ranging from solid to patches.
We were truly impressed and when the opportunity came for us to own some of the these sheep we took it.
Our flock now consists of one Ram and his harem of eight Ewes.
Lambing will commence around February/March 2008.
Will have a select few lambs for sale at that time.
