Committees and Groups

Area Meeting Nominations Committee representative: - considers people for appointing to offices in Area Meeting

Children's Group - for toddlers to 10 year olds. Meets during first meeting of the month, and during the 10:30 meeting for the rest of the month. (DBS check required for adult helpers.)  

Premises Committee -provides practical support to the Warden on lettings and premises maintenance

Nominations Committee - considers people for appointing to offices in Local Meeting

Peace and Justice Group - meets in Library at Meeting House. Organises vigils and looks at other ways of supporting the peace testimony

Treasurer's Support Group - a group that meets at the treasurer's request. They provide practical support such as acting as signatories for the various banking accounts, and discuss ideas and problems related to the financial running of the meeting.

Occasional and informal groups

Experiment with Light - for Friends who want to deepen their Quaker experience by discovering what it means to 'wait in the light'

Healing Group - meets monthly usually at the Meeting House, occasionally in peoples' houses. For those committed to spiritual healing. Welcomes names for healing 

Poetry Group- meets approximately every six weeks on a Monday at Hyde Lodge. For sharing pleasure in poetry

Quaker Questions - three or four Quakers speak about their experience of a particular subject (e.g Quakers and God), followed by discussion groups. Open to all

Outside groups of particular interest to Quakers

These groups are usually not restricted to Quakers, but have a Quaker presence.

Amnesty International - meets 3rd Tuesday of month at Meeting House. For more information, click here

Circles of Support and Accountability - support and supervision of a registered sex offender to prevent re-offending. For more information, click here

Friends of the Family - a professionally run support group for vulnerable families with pre school children, based at the Meeting House, with an office in the garden. For more information, click here

Olive Branch Christian Counselling Service - provides counselling services within Winchester. For more information, click here

Winchester Rent Deposit Scheme - funds rent deposits for those without sufficient capital. At Meeting House on Wednesday mornings 10.00 - 11.30, click here

Winchester Action on Climate Change- working on a strategy to reduce the district's carbon footprint. For more information, click here

Southampton and Winchester Visitors Group for Asylum Seekers - visits and supports refugees and asylum seekers in Southampton. Able to provide some financial assistance. For more information, click here

Global Justice - campaigns to get government to change policies that are detrimental to poor countries. Meets at St Peter's Catholic Church. For more information, click here
