Access and Car Parking

1.     Access to Winchester from the M3 motorway:

Access to and from the South (eg. Southampton, Portsmouth, New Forest, Bournemouth), use Junction 10, which gives access to and from the South only.

Access to and from the North (eg. Basingstoke, London), use Junction 9 and follow the signs.

2.    Park and Ride (P & R):

NOTE: There is no P & R bus service on Sundays or Bank Holidays.

There are three P & R sites. (See (i) (ii) and (iii) below).

The P & R sites are signed from the M3 Junctions 9, 10 and 11.

Buses run at least every 15 minutes from 7am to 9.30pm.
Ticket-machines are ‘Pay & Display’.
Charges - £3.00 per car per day (£2.00 if arrive after 10.30am).
Free parking after 4pm at St Catherine’s & Barfield.
P & R charges include unlimited travel on P & R buses for all car passengers.

The P & R Bus-stop nearest to Colebrook Street is in The Broadway, outside the Guildhall.
To FMH: Facing in direction of King Alfred’s Statue, turn immediately right into the Abbey Gardens. Follow path through the Gardens; passing play-ground on left, to gate into Colebrook Street. Turn left. No.16 is on the right.
 
i) South Winchester P & R (864 spaces) SO21 2FG
•   Located off Junction 11 of the M3
•   Takes  20 minutes to The Broadway
•   LAST BUS:  Leaves The Broadway to South Winchester P & R at 21:19.

ii)   St. Catherine’s P & R (581 spaces) SO23 9NP  }  Both located  
iii)  Barfield P & R   (194 spaces) SO23 9SQ            }  off  Junction 10 of the M3.
•   These two P & R sites are both located in East Winchester
•   LAST BUS: Leaves The Broadway at 21:22.

3.    ‘Centre’ and ‘Inner’ Car Parks – locations and charges:

NOTE: parking is free after 6pm; also on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Car Park - Locations:
‘Winchester City Centre Parking Map’ – is available on the Internet –
‘Google’ ‘Winchester access and parking map’. This shows all of the ‘Centre’ and the ‘Inner’ Car Parks. Also shows the one-way system.

The two Car Parks that are the nearest to the Meeting House are:

•    ‘Chesil Multi-storey’ in Chesil Street (No. 7 on the Map). LONG STAY.
This is recommended – as it is ‘long-stay’and more likely to have places than the one in Colebrook Street. (See below).
Charges range from £1.10 up to 1 hour; £3.50 up to 4 hours; £6.00 for 4 hours-plus
To QMH: Cross over pedestrian traffic-lights, to end of Chesil Street at the roundabout; turn left; then the next left is Colebrook Street.

•    ‘Colebrook Street Car Park’ (No. 5 on the Map). SHORT STAY – as this is a ‘central’ car park, note that it is limited to four hours. (Only two other ‘Centre’ car parks (‘The Brooks’ and ‘Middle Brook Street) include stays for ‘over 4 hours’ = £15.00. ‘Tower Street’ and ‘Gladstone Street’ also do so = £8.00)
Charges range from £1.10 up to 1 hour; £4.00 up to 4 hours.
To QMH: leaving car-park at the ‘Exit’, turn left into Colebrook Street; No. 16 is on the right.

4. Parking at QMH:

There is parking for three cars only, usable only by permit to be obtained in advance from the Warden.(see contacts below).

But when meetings are held in St Lawrence's Parish Room (next to the Meeting House) parking is available at the rear of the Parish Room.
