The horses of Hoof 'n Hearts Horse Rescue were relocated on June 20th, 2007 to Marius' house. The new facility is located in Temple, PA with big grassy fields that these horses need and deserve. The property is under constant construction to add more pastures, run-in sheds, and hopefully, shed-row stalls. Candace will continue to ride, teach and train from home.
As of March 17th, 2008, Candace will be working out of Quarry Rock Farm in Leesport, PA. She will primarily be working with green or unbroke Thoroughbreds at the new location, but will also offer lessons at this convenient facility. Stalls may be available to horses in need of training board...in example, "problem" horses, or horses that need to be broke undersaddle.
Candace Scheirer provides top notch training and problem solving whether the equine is a pasture pet or an 'A' circuit competitor. She specialize in breaking and rehabilitating horses. Hunter/Jumper lessons are also available for any level of riders, on either Candace's safe and quiet lesson horses, or your own horse. Candace caters to the individual needs of the horse and rider. Candace is willing travel to other facilities for lessons and training rides, or horses may be shipped in. Our lesson policy is to be safe, have fun, and ride well. Candace does not believe in pressuring her students to compete. Some enjoy it, while others would rather ride for pleasure. To each their own. For those of who who would enjoy competing, horse show coaching, schooling, and transportation is available. For more information, please see the Contact page for ways to get a hold of Candace. Please check out the other links for more information about prices and Lesson Packages.

Hoof 'n Hearts Horse Rescue is a two year old non-profit organization founded with the noble intent on rescuing horses and ponies from slaughter, abuse, and neglect. Everyday, horses are shipped long hours to southern equine slaughterhouses to meet a cruel and undeserved demise. The process in which the horses are slaughtered is brutual and inhumane. It consists of stunning the horse with a captive bolt (which does not always knock the animal out), dropping them through a drop chute to break their legs, hanging them upside down with meat hooks through their hind legs, and lastly slitting their throat for them to bleed to death. The reason horses must endure such an awful process is due to the fact that horses are not raised for consumption purposes and are heavily medicated throughout their lives with medicine which is toxic to humans, take wormers as an example. They must bleed to death to drain their bodies from the toxins so that they are safe to eat in places such as Europe and Asia. Equine slaughter is an unrecognized problem in the United States because too many people are unaware of it. Many of the horses being slaughtered are racehorses that didn't make it on the track, old camp horses, stolen horses, and even the BLM protected mustangs are illegally slaughtered. Every week in Pennsylvania, a slaughter auction takes place. The horses that are sold at this auction are every breed and age, from healthy to dead on their hooves, professionally trained to unbroke, and every other variation you can imagine. Horses sold at these local auctions bring anywhere from $25.00 to $2,000.00, with the lower end or unwanted horses going straight to the "kill pen" for slaughter. Many of the unfortunate animals in the kill pen can be purchased from the killers, rehabilitated, and adopted out to a new, loving homes. That is Hoof 'n Hearts main mission. Kill pen horses are not always sick or permanantly injured, they often just need TLC with some veterinarian and farrier attention, and they soon evolve into a healthy, life-loving equine who will appreciate you for everything you do for them...and they DO understand that they were saved. The abused and neglected horses just need to be taught to trust and love again, while being fed hearty "groceries". They make fabulous life-long pals, and they will love you forever. We currently have six rescue horses at our barn. Each has a touching story, each has a happy ending.
