Did you know that a lot goes into planning an “Activity” Calendar? It’s more than just a calendar of events to keep people from getting bored. It’s a calendar that you can use to help you live YOUR BEST LIFE in the important dimensions of YOUR LIFE! Plus, you can ALWAYS suggest things YOU like to do!
PURPOSEFUL: “Service” Projects, Outings to help schools in the area, and letters to soldiers/Walter Reid Medical Center. Participating in the Mayor’s Council and Resident’s Meeting.
SPIRITUAL: Church Meetings and “church directed” activities. We offer both LDS Services and Christian (Non-denominational) Services to meet your needs. Musical programs, and inspirational speakers.
EMOTIONAL: Interactions with volunteer groups including, “Friends of the Elderly”. Supporting other residents and being personally supported by participation the “Mayor’s Council” and Resident’s Meetings.
* One on One support from the Recreation Therapy Director (AKA: Activities Director) Helping you find support you need with all kinds of issues, meeting new friends, or just lending an ear.
SOCIAL: Any activity helps you connect to other residents, staff, family, and volunteers. If you are shy, meals are a great way to meet a lot of new people. Explore Tours, “Wonderful Women of Williamsburg”, “Williamsburg Play Time”, and “Holiday” activities are other great examples.
INTELLECTUAL: Information programs, lectures and GAMES! Games are not just for fun, but to help you use your brain in different ways. You might not realize it, but games are a very important part of well rounded schedule. They help your brain stay sharp and help slow dementia related diseases! Bingo, Shopping Cart Game, and the Auction help your brain!
PHYSICAL: Exercise, Music and Movement, or just walking to the Dining Room help your body feel good. It doesn’t take much, just a little every day. Try Music and Movement. You will be having so much fun, you won’t know your exercising. Appropriate for EVERY person and EVERY physical level.
