Welcome

Hi, welcome to the nature protectors website where you can learn all you want about protecting the environment and preserving natural resources. We are a couple of students in middle school doing the Lexus Eco challenge. The Lexus Eco challenge is a challenge for school students all over the United States to help find ways to protect the ecosystem around our local area. this website is to help raise awareness to people about the environment. Enjoy!

The Challenge

For the Eco challenge a group of five or more kids has to pick from three types of ecosystems:

  1. Land
  2. Water
  3. Air

*our group chose the water category

 This is the action plan outline for Lexus challenge it tells you what to write in your action plan.

PART 1: WHAT'S THE ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE

  1. Describe the environmental topic your team will address.
  2. What local community issue within this topic did your team select?
  3. Why is this issue important to your team?

PART 2: WHAT'S YOUR PLAN?

  1. Describe your team's goals for this project.
  2. Describe the step-by-step actions you plan to take to meet each of the goals outlined above.
  3. List the specific responsibilities of each team member toward achieving these goals
  4. How will you measure success?
  5. How will you quantify impact? (e.g., by tallying how many gallons of water were saved, by tracking how many cans were recycled.)

PART 3: YOUR PLAN IN ACTION: HOW DID YOU IMPLEMENT YOUR IDEAS?

  1. Describe how your team put its plan into action. What did you do?
  2. Did you organize a school event to raise awareness of the issue?
  3. Was the community involved? If yes, how?
  4. How did you get the word out? Did you use the materials provided to create and distribute press releases, develop a website or blog, etc.?

PART 4: EVALUATE YOUR PLAN: WHAT ARE THE RESULTS?

  1. What challenges did you face and how could your plan have been improved?
  2. What positive outcomes were achieved from your implementing this plan? (e.g., raised awareness in your community, your team's actions paved the way for others to bring about future changes.)
  3. What quantifiable impact did you have?
  4. What did you learn from this experience?
  5. In what ways was your plan successful?

 These are some of the things we did

  1. Had an interview with a member of the Chattahoochee Audubon Society
  2. Had an interview with a ranger at  Rocky Bayou state park 
  3. Made signs for our school asking people to throw trash away
  4. Made this website
  5. Created a  video about global warming and posted it on youtube
  6. We made posters asking people  on the beaches to throw away  their trash, and  we included facts on how trash hurts marine life.

 These are the things we are going to do

  1. Get an interveiw with a newspaper reporter
  2. We called local beaches to request permission to hang our posters and we are waiting for their permission
  3. Try to get on our school news 
  4. Send a power point to three local elementary schools
