When the storms rage, the boughs of the weeping willow tree blow with the breeze. They do not break. They endure. And their strength lies in bending.

Announcements and Updates.

2010 Kidding has Started.  Please check back for photos and information.

11/15/09

We have started kidding a little earlier then we planned this year.  We had a oops when we were on our vacation.  Some of the bucks broke out.  Now we have 7 new kids here on the farm.  3 boer crosses and four pygmies. These are all going to be offered up at discount prices in January.  So contact us if you are looking for a goat.  We will begin our regular kidding in Jan.  I guess we were lucky it was just four goats that got bred.

Now that things have started to settle down, fair is done, two week beach vacation over and the gardens are about finish, we have decided to make some changes:

We are starting to thin out the goat herd and look for another buck.  We are looking for quality animals.  All the does are in breeding and should kid in jan and feb 2010 (Let's pray that it warmer then last year.  Sadie says she still is warming up from last year.  All the goats kidded as soon as I walk out the door to go to work)so if you need a project goat or that special pet, please give us a call.

Also Sadie little side business is starting to boom.  She now producing specialty goat milk soap for weddings and showers.  She is also making gift baskets.  Who would have thought it would grow the way it has.  She also in making her prize winning fudge and expanded to chocolate covered pretzels and caramel apples.

The girls are always busy.  Not only are they straight A students, the two oldest are both playing two instruments. Anita has made the Jr. High Cheer leading team. The youngest started school this year and piano. All three girls are busy with their own projects here on the farm and 4-H.

**Our faith is strong so that makes us strong people***

Our fair season is done for this year.  Anita won grand champion carcass goat and Grace also placed first in carcass in her weight class but wasn't able to pull out the reserve but we are very proud of them and their goats.  Also the girls were able to take 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the rate of gain contest. So we are able to say we have fast growing goats.  The girls and the farm were able to place very well in open show with several first and other placing.  We are tired but very happy with this year's fair results.

*Regina and Anita have added two LaMancha doelings and a Alpine doeling to their herds.  So we are back in the dairy goat business. We will get photos posted.

*I  finally got my way and we added some ducks to the farm.   We will be selling duck eggs and hatching ducklings in the spring

*We have started hatching out red sex-link chicken eggs and will be adding a web page for them.

*The girls have started a new project; Guinea Pigs.  They will be showing and breeding American guinea pigs.  A web page will be added in the future. Grace walked away with grand champion guinea pig this year with Sassy the 2nd.

It looks like 2010 will be another fun and exciting year for Wild Side Acres and all who live here. Keep checking back and see what is new.  Feel free to call and email.
