For those entrepreneurs looking to start a small business, online auctions are a great place to start selling your wholesale goods. There are minimal start-up costs resulting in virtually no involved risks. Keep in mind that there are no get rich quick schemes. If this is what you are looking for you’ve come to the wrong place. Succeeding in the resale of wholesale goods takes research, determination and hard work. I could never accurately estimate the countless hours of research I’ve done over the years trying to find legitimate, reliable companies who are willing to offer their products at wholesale.
There are literally hundreds of ads out there that offer to sell lists of companies that provide wholesale goods to the public but my experience has been that most of these lists have outdated links, are schemes, or all of the companies are located in the U.S. While U.S. companies are good for drop shipping, provided the Company is a reliable drop shipper(more on this later) it is of little or no help to Canadians due to the duties and freight charges imposed on the goods. It is difficult to be competitive when you have to factor in duty and high freight charges in your pricing. My experience has been that I’ve been unable to match or beat my competitors prices when buying from U.S. Wholesalers.
To solve this problem I knew I had to somehow find wholesale companies right here in Canada who were willing to sell me their goods at wholesale. Through trial and error and I might add some expensive useless information I finally found legitimate wholesale companies right here in Canada who were more than willing to supply me with products for my flea market and online auction business. I also found reliable, legitimate Canadian & U.S. drop shippers to supply goods for resale. Of all the lists for sale out there the Canada Wholesale Directory site is the best I've ever come across and I use it personally every day to buy products at wholesale prices.
If you are just starting out in the online auction business I recommend you start with buying wholesale from one of the recommended companies in Canada Wholesale directory and then resell for a profit through flea markets or online auctions. This way you are in possession of the item and control the timely delivery of the product you sell rather than depending on a drop shipper who may or may not get the item out on time. This is important when you first venture into online auctions because you are trying to build a 100% positive customer satisfaction reputation which is one of the keys to succeeding at online auctions and flea markets.
Trust me, I’ve used unreliable drop shippers before and it took a lot of time, effort and money to set things straight with my customers. This is why I prefer to purchase my goods at wholesale and then resell them. I have TOTAL control of the sale of the goods and can follow the sale through to the end.
Another thing to consider is what goods to buy, is there a demand, are they relatively easy to ship, and are you going to be able to resell them at a cost that is profitable to you yet affordable to the consumer. These are all questions you should ask yourself before you venture into the wholesale business. Again, research is the key to success here. Another useful tool is provided by a company called OVERTURE. They offer a search tool that can be used to determine the amount of searches for a particular word or phrase. This is very effective when trying to determine what products consumers are interested in. For instance, if you are interested in selling Sponge Bob Square Pants Alarm Clocks, type this in the search field and this tool will return stats for the number of times in a given month this term was searched for.
