THE RESSURECTIONS
| BIRTH Jesus mother and father Mary and Joseph traveled to a town in Judea called Bethlehem to pay taxes. By the time they reached the town there was no room at the hotel. Lots of people had traveled there to pay taxes also. They had occupied the rooms. Mary and Joseph had to settle in a stable where animals stayed. There is where Mary gave birth to Jesus Christ. JESUS IN THE TEMPLE When Jesus was twelve years old He traveled with His parents and many friends to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover Feast. After the feast Mary and Joseph was searching for Jesus, because He had gotten lost from them. They searched for three days. Finally, they found Him in the temple talking and listening to the teachers of the law. The elder teachers were amazed at the smartness that Jesus possessed. His mother Mary asked Him why He stayed behind. He told her that He was busy with His Father's (God) work.
JESUS IS BAPTIZED One day John the Baptist (Jesus' forerunner) was preaching. John saw Jesus and he baptized Him in the Jordan River. At this time the Holy Spirit came and sit on Jesus shoulder. A voice from Heaven said, "this is my darling Son, with whom I am well pleased. JESUS CHOOSES HIS DISCIPLES Jesus left the home of Mary and Joseph when He was thirty years old so He could begin spreading the word about God's love for us. He taught us to repent (say I'm sorry) of our sins (wrong doings). While He was walking one morning, He saw a man named Peter and Peter's brother Andrew fishing with nets. Jesus asked them to drop their nets and follow Him. He said, "I will make you fishers of men." They followed Him immediately. He also chose nine other disciples.
JESUS' MINISTRY Jesus began His ministry at 30 and was crucified at 33 years old. He began His ministry after His 40 days temptation in the wilderness (Luke 4:1-21). Jesus could only performed miracles with the power of the Holy Spirit in Him after He was baptized in the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:38). God acknowledged Jesus' attainment of Sonship after His baptism by John (Luke 3:21,22) when He was anointed for His ministry. His ministry consisted of teaching and preaching God's word, healing the sick, feeding the hungry, raising the dead, and most of all dying on the cross for all of our sins.
THE LAST SUPPER One day (Holy Thursday) Jesus sat down to eat supper with His disciples for the last time before His death. Jesus spoke of many things to comfort His disciples. He shared bread and wine with them. He told them as often as they eat this bread and drink this wine to do it in remembrance of Him. GETHSEMANE After the Last Supper Jesus and His disciples went to the Garden Of Gethsemane to pray. Jesus was faced with the crucifixion. Jesus asked His disciples to stay awake and pray with Him but, filled with grief, they fell asleep. Jesus went a little farther. He was filled with great fear in the garden because He knew He would die for the sins of others. He aske the Father (God) if it was anyway possible to let this bitter cup pass by Him, but He also told God only if it is His will.
THE CRUCIFIXION Very late on Holy Thursday night Roman soldiers arrived in the Garden of Gethsemane to arrest Jesus. Judas (one of Jesus disciples) betrayed Jesus with a kiss. Jesus was brought to Pilate (The Governor) to determine what they would do with Jesus. He was condemned to die. The soldiers made fun of Jesus by putting a crown of thorns on His head. 'Hail, King of the Jews." They spit on Him, slapped Him across His face, and beat Him, but Jesus never complained. He knew that God had this in the plan in order for men to be saved from Hell. Jesus was crucified on Good Friday beside two thieves to atone for the sins of the world. In pain, Jesus prayed from the cross, 'Father forgive them, for they know not what they are doing." They buried Him in a borrowed tomb.
THE RESSURRECTION Early on Easter Sunday morning Mary (Jesus' mother), Mary Magdalene, and several other women went to the tomb to annoint Jesus' body. Much to their amazement, when they arrived Jesus was not there. He had risen. An angel in white clothing appeared to them and said, "Come see the place where He laid, then go quickly and tell His disciples He is risen from the dead, and now He is going before you to Galilee, where you will see Him. |
