Many people who have heard about Andrew WK have only part of the story- a very small part of the story. Even some of the most die-hard Andrew WK fans don't realize the true nature of Andrew WK, who he really is, and how his entire existence has been constructed. Here, I'm going to explain exactly what Andrew WK doesn't want you to know. Once and for all, the truth will be laid out plain and simple. Some people, especially passionate fans of Andrew Wk, might not like what I'm going to reveal. If you are one of those people, you might want to leave this site right now, because your understanding of what this man is about, is going to be radically altered forever, and you might not like the truth.
Once you read even the first pieces of information on this page, your views and opinions about Andrew WK, his music, his personality, and his message are all going to be rearranged. It's going to be a permenant change, so if you like how you think about AWK now, it's better to just close this page and not come back. But, if you want to know the real true facts about what's going on with Andrew WK, where he came from, the people involved, and get answers to all your questions, then you've come to the right place. This is the place where these and many more questions will finally be answered. There have been some attempts to get the truth out to the public before, but most of these have been half-hearted, and a large majority of the information has been removed from public view, or criticized with such vigor (from Andrew WK's own people), that his fans simply disregarded it as some sort of conspiracy. I assure you, there is a conspiracy going on, but it's one that's been created to distract you and any other person interested in Andrew WK from learning the truth about him.
I decided to write this all down because I've been doing a lot of research over the past 3 years. In 2005 something major happened to Andrew WK, and ever since then I've been keeping track of what's been going on. Finally, I had the opportunity to speak with two very important people in the Andrew WK world. These two people were kind enough to let me interview them and they finally were able to help me make sense of the big picture. I've promised to not reveal the identities of these two people, but one them was a musician who played with Andrew WK and spent a lot of time with him and behind the scenes. The other is a person who went to Community high school with Andrew in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I must thank these two people, because without them, I wouldn't have most of the major secrets that really have helped me get the big picture view of Andrew WK.
A lot of people have probably heard rumors and myths about Andrew- whether it's about his bloody nose, his hair, his age, or how he got into the entertainment business. Some people may also have heard stories about "multiple Andrews", hired actors, corporate song writing teams, Andrew's Dad, and most of all, a person named Steev Mike. For a long time, I had lots of pieces of information about these same rumors and stories, as well as a lot of gossip, and lots and lots of questions. It wasn't until I could sit down and actually ask these two people from the inside that I finally learned the answer to that basic question... Who is Andrew WK? Really?
I'm aware of some of the other information sources out there, and I've used them for some of my researching, but I want to make my information more useful to the average person, not just diehard fans or haters, and I want my reporting to help clear up the questions and provide solid answers, not just focus on a bunch of random rumors. What I've put together here is just basic facts, taken from the sources that I know are legit, and from speaking to people who have been on the inside and have the kind of information that answers these questions once and for all.
Who am I? I'm a guy who's been a music fan just about all his life. I've decided to keep my name entirely private. I got into Andrew WK about 3 years ago, after my sister's boyfriend told me about some stories he heard regarding this "MTV party guy who actually turned out to be a hired actor". I spent more time looking into that rumor than into the Andrew WK music, and slowly became very, very interested in how this seemindly simple and unimportant kind of music and person could actually be so full of holes and so twisted up on itself. It reminded me of some dreams and nightmares I had when I was younger, and for some reason the whole thing just really struck a chord with me, deep in my heart.
Now I also love the Andrew WK music too, but I'm not ashamed to say that I first became interested because of the person, or people, behind Andrew WK and this music. Overall, I've still spent more time with the non-musical sides of Andrew WK than the albums or songs, but I do enjoy the music too. It's just that the music seems to be just one piece of this whole experience, whether the whole thing is meant to be entertaining or not is up to each person to decide. But as for me, I'm now 100% confident that the real story about Andrew WK doesn't have much to do with the music or even the person most people think of as Andrew WK.
