One of the main activities at Whitwell Hall Country Centre is camping. Living in a camp environment among peers can enhance the social development of children of all ages. It is this social development that makes the camping experience an integral part of many organised youth groups and schools visit to the Centre. There are also many family groups that use the campsites during the school holiday periods at Whitwell to simply relax in a rich and peaceful countryside setting.
A unique feature of the Centre is the provision of open fire pads on all campsites, covered by large 'A' frame shelters. Most groups using the campsites use the open campfire for all their cooking needs. There is also a large campfire circle on the estate where large numbers can gather and sit around a wonderful roaring campfire.
The campsites at Whitwell aren't split into individual pitches for a single tent but are three fields of varying sizes. These fields can be booked by a School, Organised Group or Family Group (depending on the time of year) and a booking means exclusive use of the field and fire pads. A requirement of the booking of these fields is a minimum number of tents per night.
A copy of our campsite information and rules can be viewed here. Please take a little time to read these before making a booking.
The Centre has all the equipment you need when coming on Camp. 12ft Patrol Tents can be supplied to School & Youth Groups together with a full Cook Set and supply of Firewood. Fully Catered Packages are also available meaning that Groups can forget about having to bring their equipment and food with them but they do still have to cook it ! Alternatively, Groups can hire only the campsite and equipment or simply just the campsite. All three campsites have toilet and hot shower facilities.
If you enjoy "real" camping with an open fire, in the setting of a historic countryside estate, you will become enchanted with Whitwell Hall Country Centre and once you have found us we are sure you will want to come back again and again.
