The Whitmire Family Story

We, like many others, did not really understand internet security when we started this website.  We wanted to be transparent and just tell everyone what God was doing in our lives.  So, we titled this website "Whitmire Family" and didn't think anything of it.  But, we have now realized that this piece of information, coupled with knowledge of what state we live in, could make it easy for someone with not-so-good intentions to find us or our children.  Because of this, we have made the decision to close this website.  We have no reason to believe that anyone would want to do us harm, but we also understand that when a website is public there is no control over who can access the information there.

We will leave this page up one more week (until 1/27/2007) and then will close it.  We are sorry to have to do this, but we also want to make sure that we find a balance between our desire to share our lives and our story and also our responsibility to keep our family safe. 

We are sad to think about saying goodbye to our website.  We have had over 10,000 visitors here in the last 2 years.  We have shared our ups and downs, our tears and our joy.  It is a bit like saying goodbye to an old friend.  We only hope that we won't lose the friends we have made through this site and that you will occasionally check in with us on our blog.
