It is with regret that we (Shelley & Nicola) have decided to step down from the running of Whitkirk Multibabes.

It has been a wonderful 2 1/2 yrs meeting everyone and watching babies grow, however our children are at school now and we have other commitments. We hope that someone from the group wants to keep it going as this is the only way it will continue. Lorraine Anderson from YMG provides great support and obviously Nicola & myself are only a phone call away. If you can help then please contact Nicola, Shelley or Lorraine @ YMG.

Thank you for all your support & see you at the next meeting.

How we started.......

Ex-Whitkirk dental nurse could't find social group - so she started one!

Mum-of-three Nicola Waterland was so fed-up after struggling to find a local group for twins, she has now secured funding to set up her own. Nicola who has two-year-old tots Abbi and Joe and one-year-old Sam has now joined forces with friend Shelley Bambrook - who also has twins - to form their own group for local mums in the same situation.

The 32-year-old from Whitkirk says she has felt cut-off and finds it impossible to get to groups in Wakefield, Menston or Bradford as she doesn't drive.  Now the former dental nurse has secured funding from Yorkshire Multiple Group to run a social group for mums and dads with twins and more.

"I can't go to the groups in the area that are already up and running because I don't drive. There are none in my area and apparently there used to be one in Cross Gates which has closed down. So there's obviously a need for it and hopefully it will take off with flying colours."

"I am saying come along mums and dads, anyone with twins or more. It's a chance for them to get to know each other and meet people.

"I love being a mum but it would just be nice to have some adult company. I used to be a dental nurse so I was with the public all day, every day."

A spokeswoman for TAMBA - the Twins and Multiple Births Association - said anyone can set up groups and that most of them are hugely successful.
