White Hawk Quarter Horses

The mares of White Hawk Quarter Horses have some of yesterday and today's top producing bloodlines in their pedigrees. All mares are selected not only for these good genetics, but all breeding stock here at White Hawk must be of sound mind and a good disposition, or we will not breed them.

A Cool Playgirl, "Minnie" is a 2003 Sorrel Mare out of a Playgirls Conclusion mare.  She is all she is pictured to be above, even as I write this, and she has not been fitted in years.  Needless to say, we are proud to have aquired her.  She has points in AQHA (more details on that when I get the time to look them up), but has not been shown since her early years.  It is her mother that took the spotlight at the home where she was born.  We are not complaining, if Minnie had been getting out we could not have purchased her, but her former owners, being another small owner/breeder like we are here, means you cannot lead two of your mares in the ring at the same time yourself.  BOY do we understand that!   Right now we are planning on having some fun with her at the shows ourselves and then breeding her this coming spring.

2005 AQHA Palomino Mare

 Girls Gone Bad, "Xena" is a 2005 AQHA Palomino mare.  She is a late starter to the PHBA show circuit, but she has done extremely well for her first season in 2008. HYPP N/N ROM open and amateur halter in one season. KPEA Circuit Grand Champion; NYPEA Open Reserve High Point; Reserve Amateur Jr. Mare. 43 Open points, 42 amateur points, 21 youth points. She has the looks, breeding and disposition. She is also a riding prospect and has some training under saddle.  Our plans for her are to have fun showing her and seeing if we can get some points on her in AQHA.  This coming spring we may breed her.  Watch here for news!

Cool Priority is a 2004, AQHA registered, 15.2, N/N, sorrel mare.  Her conformation and pedigree speak for themselves. 

"Sassy" is shown here, in the photos above, in the Fall of 2006. She is in "field condition," after being turned out all summer that year, except for a bit of a show grooming she just received prior to these pictures to be in a "Parade of Breeds" held locally at that time.   

The year, 2007, found "Sassy" winning First Place in Open Three Year Old Mares at the Tarheel Jamboree during the summer, and another First, at Lake Waccamaw, NC, followed by a Second Place win at the 2007 NC State Fair.  

2008 gas prices kept us home.   Maybe in spring of 2009...

Okay, well so far in 2009, Sassy has not been shown...BUT she has learned to ride.  WAY to GO Scott and Sassy!

Watch Sierra Clu  or as we call her, "Faith," is a 16hh, AQHA Registered, 2004, N/N, Sorrel mare.

She is very lightly started under saddle and will also be bred this year for a 2009 palomino foal, if all goes well.

Our veterinarian, Dr "Skip" Severt has found Faith to be in foal to our own Dont Pass Sierra by ultrasound on May 16th.  This was a BIG week for Faith.  She also went fourth at the AQHA's Region 10 Experience in Clemson, S.C. on the 15th of May.  Her first show was just five days prior at a small local show.  CONGRATULATIONS SCOTT AND FAITH!

"Zippy" is a 1997 chestnut mare.  She is N/N, and solidly built and sticks at 16 + hands at the wither. She rides, and has a decent temperment.  She also has an outstanding pedigree that you can see below. .

Sheilas Little John is a 2000 palomino mare, HYPP N/N, and 16.0 hands.   

We have all about fell in love with this girl.  She has one of the calmest dispositions you will ever see.  When you take some time out of the day to stop and give her a scratch on the neck, she closes her eyes like a lap cat, and if horses could purr, I'm sure she would.

Looking at her pedigree, one can see she comes from some really good stock.  Quinarius Dude was the 1991 Open PHBA World Champion in Halter.  He had 223.0 Halter points in PHBA and 1.0 Performance points as well.  Quinarius Dude is the Grandsire of 15 foals of which 2 were performers.

Quinarius Chance, Quinarius Dude's sire, holds numerious titles in both AQHA and PHBA.  He is the earner of 82.0 Halter points in AQHA alone.

Then there are the two crosses of Blondys Dude, a dash of Pretty Impressive, and a pinch of Sonny Go Lucky, through his most famous daughter, Go Lucky Maiden.  In addition, did I mention, Tardy Too?

Mandy is shown here in total "pasture condition," and even without conditioning and the frills, as you can see, she is a very nicely put together mare.

Update: 7/29/09...Hold the press, it is looking like "Moose" Mandy's colt is turning into what looks to be a BUCKSKIN!  WHOO HOO!

We liked "Ripley," Mandy's 2008 foal, so much, we repeated this breeding of Mandy to our own Skipper W bred stallion, Skips Bar Review, and here again is an excellent result!

Fantastic Blacklace is a 1986, AQHA registered mare.  She is in retirement now and will live out the rest of her life here at White Hawk.  We take care of our own.

"Fancy" has one of the most unflappable and easy going temperments you can find out there.  Take a look at her pedigree, and you will see she comes from some of the best of the older lines.  Many of you will know such names as, Jaguar, Coy's Bonanza, Joak, Skips Shi, Tailwind Bonanza, Mr Tailwind, Marina City, and Hankins Bars.  Besides these great stallions, she also has the AQHA Hall of Fame horses that we have highlighted in red.

 "Fancy" is the grand dame of White Hawk.  We purchased Fancy back when she was "only" 15 years old.  Since then, she has had two really nice foals for us and been rested in the odd years.  Well, "rested" is probably not entirely correct, because as far as she is concerned, ANY foal on the ground is hers to supervise and nurse-maid like a proud grandmother.

Fancy severely injured her shoulder on a fence post as a two year old, ending her show career.  However, she is brood mare "sound as a dollar."  She has proved this over the years by producing 12 foals, divided between APHA registered, and AQHA registered.  Many of these foals have gone on to have successful show careers, both in Performance, and Halter.

The above photo was taken 3-28-08.  She is only 7 weeks from the day she gave birth to "Guiness," her 15th foal.
