Challenges

July 08th 2005

This 'book' will envolves the challenges I have entered. At the moment all challenges are from one site, Poetry Pages. Thank you and I hope you enjoy my challenges...and hey! join the site. It's great!(Bold means it's a challenge poem and I lost. Bold and italic means it's a challenge and I won.)

Ode to a Blind Innocent - 12:18 a.m. 6/14/05

The silence decends as the world upends
and in that silence a girl is listening.
Though blind she sees life unfold.
A teasing breeze pulls a giggle from her.
The warm sun emits a sigh of pleasure.
Hearing a hatching egg makes her eyes water.
The feel of silky petals tugs a smile to her lips.

People were never very kind to her
but she was never jealous of them.
She never once hated any of them.
They might have eyes but they could never see.
Even considered whole they're incomplete.

For this one little girl was truely blessed.
She knew how to ignore their words and love herself.
Knew how to truely be blind and be herself,
and she knew how to love and forgive.

As the day sets and turns into night
a girl gets down upon her knees and bows her head.
In a voice so full of innocent love she says,
"Father, Father! Could You make them blind too?
Maybe then they could finally see these beautiful things!
Dear Father it's not fair that they arn't so blessed as me!"

and in the silence a girl cries for all those truely blind.

A Guiding Whisper - 1:41 a.m. 4/1/05

With obsevant eyes you wait to see my world.
Shimmering and bright to a gnarled soul.
A flurry of undaunted pieces of me.
Bedazzled you're hurled into a labyrinth.
With a twinge of fear you look upon the walls.
Like a giant they stand remote and tall.
Silently spellbound by the shades of twilight
that seem to ingrave it's self upon the dragons wings.
Wraithlike and pale with eyes that lead to oblivion.
It stands tall in the mist of a dream or a nightmare.
(It depends on what the wandering soul is seeking.)
The dragon is so elusive and mysterious.
Lionhearted and bold it stands at the fringes of a memory.
Reminescent of a magical time that is nevermore.
No matter how much the dragon may quibble,
the heart of a enchanting and vivid land is lost
by the splash of cruel daunting fears.
Transformed into a world with infinite paths and dead-ends,
but only one possible way to gain my world of fantasies.
With a vaporous hope you travel blindly alone,
until you've stopped searching and given up on faith.
...Then comes a soft whisper to guide you back home

Crooked Green Door - 5:38 a.m. 3/10/05

17 years have flown quickly past,
and I'm feeling faceless in this shapeless place.
No more fun, as the sun sinks below,
coloring the land with a red like the blush on a rose.
Completely wordless in this no-mans land.
A place I created when I had no place to go.
Rusty hinges swing the slowest
on my crooked green open door.
A place no one's dared to go.
To gloomy with no more glow.
Fearful of the screams that resonates through the cold air.
While the thunder rumbled overhead,
they made good their chance to flee.
If it wasn't for the luck of a leprechaun
I'd know what it was to be souless,
from falling into so many useless traps
meant to make me believe in friendship,
so they can take away my life piece by piece.
Taking it far somewhere over the rainbow,
so that I can't put myself back together.
