Step 1 Choose two or three images that you would like to blend together. Preferably ones that look like they could go together. The three I'm using are here: 1, 2, and 3. Step 2 Now open up a new file (Ctrl + N), and make it wide enough so that each pic can fit in there while overlapping some. Once you have your new document open, move your images into it and arrange them similarly to how I've done: ![]() Step 3 Now in order to make blending a little easier, we're going to change the blend mode of each pic to Overlay. Do this by selecting each layer individually and changing the mode in your layers palette. ![]() This is how mine looks now:
Step 4Now it doesn't quite look right though, does it? Don't worry, we can fix that easily. Grap the eliptical marquee tool from your tool bar, and go to the top of the screen and change feathering to 20-25 pixels. ![]() Step 5 Now in order to fade the edges, we're going to 'feather' them with the marquee tool. Drag the marquee along the edges of the image, like I am below. In the picture below, I have already feathered the edges on the left and middle pics, and am fading the edges of the right pic. ![]() Here's what mine looks like now: ![]() We could be done and leave it at that, but I feel like mine looks a little boring. So in order to fix it, I'm going to place this texture on top of all my layers, and set the mode to overlay. I'm also going to add this texture on top of the other one, and set the mode of this one to soft light. (adding textures is optional) Result: After adding some text, here is my final result: ![]() It looks pretty cool, huh? Keep in mind that as you get better, you may not need to set the mode of the images to overlay, and you can just leave them to normal. But personally, I like it better overlayed, because it settles into the background color or background image:) Note: |
