My name is Jo and I live in Chatham, Kent along with my long suffering and very patient boyfriend Grant. We have two children, Antony who is 13 and Craig who is 5. There are also our dogs Tia and Lola and our hamster Buzz who are part of our family, alongside all of our gorgeous guinea pigs! Everyone has their own special story of how they became addicted to piggies, and heres mine
I have loved piggies with a passion for as long as I can remember and I have my very first school which I attended at five years old to thank for it
We had two school piggies who I absolutely adored, particularly Scruffy the red and white abby! I used to beg my Mum to let me have piggies but she was never keen and so we had rabbits as I was growing up. I always loved my buns but really longed for piggies which I badgered my Mum for on and off over the years. It wasn't until I had left home and had my own family that I could finally get the piggies I had always longed for. Hoggit was the first piggy to come into my life. She was a chocolate abby with a ginger splodge on her cute little chops. I found her in my back garden being attacked by a local cat and at first I thought she was a mouse! She quickly recovered from her ordeal at almost being a cats dinner and settled into my home as though she had always meant to be there. As we all know, after you have been slave to one piggy you quickly become addicted and end up slave to an army of them! Next to come along were Bertie and Ernie, both aby X's who I bought from a local pet store. They were my pride and joy and it was Bertie who I first ever took along to a Show, something which I had always dreamed of doing since young too. Sadly Hoggit passed away in the Summer of 1999, Ernie in November of 2001 and Bertie in April of 2004. They are all so sadly missed each and every day, along with our other piggies who have sadly been called to the Rainbow Bridge.
Our home is filled with a variety of different guinea pigs, each of whom we love with a passion. They are all welcome with open arms and we often foster piggies and help them find new, loving 'forever homes'. Some of them stay with us if we have room
To me piggies are truly Gods perfect little creation. A tiny little bundle full of energy, character and love.... you can't top that! Also I have made so many wonderful friends through having piggies that I truly have alot to thank them for. They are a huge part of my life and I could never be without them.
