DIRECTIONS

Easily accessible from the M1.

Take the A38 towards Ripley, the A610 towards Ambergate and then travel towards Matlock on the A6.

The village of Whatstandwell is on the A6 between Belper and Matlock Bath.

The most useful landmark is The Derwent Hotel,

at a Z-bend where the A6 crosses the River Derwent.

The road to Wirksworth (B5035), Longway Bank, leads off this Z-bend.

After crossing the bridge when coming from the south, the road is straight ahead.

If coming from the north - from Matlock - it is a rather awkward right turn

just before the bridge.

Hillcrest is about ¼ mile from this junction, a little way back from the road,

and just after a left-hand bend at the top of the initial rise.
